Investment Strategy

The Fund seeks to replicate the total return of the Standard & Poor's 500 Index. When it is not possible or practicable to buy and/or hold the stocks in proportion to their weighting in the Index, the Fund may employ a sampling or optimization technique to construct the portfolio. The Fund uses a passive investment approach. This approach results in returns that closely match the Index. To meet liquidity needs, the Fund may hold a small portion of its assets in money market securities or index futures contracts. The Fund may also generate some income by lending securities to creditworthy financial institutions. There is no guarantee that the Fund's investment objective will be met.

Category Description: Large Blend

Large-blend portfolios are fairly representative of the overall US stock market in size, growth rates and price. Stocks in the top 70% of the capitalization of the US equity market are defined as large cap. The blend style is assigned to portfolios where neither growth nor value characteristics predominate. These portfolios tend to invest across the spectrum of US industries, and owing to their broad exposure, the portfolios' returns are often similar to those of the S&P 500 Index.
