Letter from the CEO, Margaret R. Carmany

e biggest and brightest stars in 2011 were the construction of Wesley Glen's new Wellness Center and the beginning of the construction of e Robert A. Barnes Center at Wesley Ridge. We anticipate that these two projects will put us at the forefront of what retirement community living will o er -- now and in the future. e Wellness Center and e Robert A. Barnes Center will bring opportunities for improved health and wellness to our residents and the communities at large. As always, life at Wesley Ridge and Wesley Glen during 2011 and 2012 was lled with exciting new experiences and projects. We honored the activity professionals who enhance residents' lives by organizing and implementing community involvement and service opportunities, as well as activities to help everyone keep a positive outlook and maintain a healthy, happy environment. e entire activities sta brings their dedication and positive attitudes to their work every day. Our Second Annual Charity Golf Classic, held in July, 2011 to bene t the Wellness Center and e Robert A. Barnes Center, was a huge success, raising over $60,000. In 2012, our ird Annual Charity Golf Classic raised over $80,000, including $30,000 from our live/silent auctions. is will continue to be an annual event to raise funds for improvements for our residents and our facilities, and we anticipate that our communities will continue to support this annual event. We look forward to another year of providing excellent care to our residents and making a real di erence in the lives of the people we serve.

Our Community Impact

2011-2012 were eventful years for our Wesley Glen Community.

We started the year with presentations by Carl B. Greiner of the University Medical Center about Living Fully through Life Transitions. e topics covered living life well through transitions, joys and challenges of the young-old, and managing terminal illness. We are very proud to announce that the Health Center at Wesley Glen received an overall 5/5 star rating from Medicare in August 2011. is rating is based on an evaluation of our facilities, sta ng, and quality measures as indicated by resident reports and assessment of resident health records. is rating re ects the high standard of care received by all of our residents at Wesley Glen. Wesley Glen established a Family Council this year with goals of improving the quality of life at Wesley Glen, as well as in the long-term care system as a whole. ey o er support for families, education, action on concerns or complaints, communication with the administrative sta , services and activities for residents, and are working on legislative actions.

Wesley Glen will celebrate 43 years of ministry to older adults in December of 2012.

In addition to serving older adults of Central Ohio for over 40 years, there are many other accolades for Wesley Glen. Assisted Living received the Reader's Choice Award in 2010 by the Readers of Suburban News Publications.

In 2011, Wesley Glen received the Best Retirement Community award from Columbus C.E.O. readers. e Health Center received a "5 Star Rating" from the Ohio Department of Health, which included the highest rating within a 50 mile radius. Also, Wesley Glen received an EAGLE accreditation from the United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries. e accreditation is widely regarded as the "seal of approval."

In an e ort to continue to provide the highest level of care to residents and families, Wesley Glen added a Customer Care Line in 2012.
