AccessWV Announces New Subsidy Program

Charleston, WV – West Virginia Insurance Commissioner, Jane L. Cline, announced today that AccessWV, West Virginia’s high risk insurance pool, has subsidies available for qualified applicants, to help West Virginia citizens obtain health insurance coverage. AccessWV guarantees that all West Virginia residents, who qualify, can purchase health insurance, regardless of their current and past health circumstance.

Premium subsidies are available to applicants whose household income is at or below 200% Federal Poverty Level (FPL). A 50% subsidy is offered to applicants whose household income is at or below 100% FPL, and a 25% subsidy is offered to those whose income is at or below 200%FPL. For example, a family of four whose income is less than 22,050 would qualify for a 50% subsidy on their premium.

Cline stated, “With this new subsidy, it puts us closer to fulfilling the goal of offering healthcare coverage to all West Virginians’. We hope that all those who are eligible take advantage of this new opportunity.”

If you think you may qualify for a premium subsidy, please visit or call 1-866-445-8491 for more information about the Subsidy Application.
