Appomattox and Buckingham Counties - James River State Park

751 Park Road, Gladstone, VA 24553

LOCATION: Buckingham County. From U.S. 60 West, turn right onto Route 605 at the James River Bridge.

Travel seven miles, then turn left onto Route 606.

From Richmond,:

Travel west on highway. Take Rt. 60 towards Amherst for about 60 miles. Turn right onto Rt. 605, and then go

7 miles to the park entrance on the left.

From Lynchburg:

Travel east on 460 to Appomattox. Take the Rt. 26 exit (Business 460). Turn left at stop sign onto Rt. 26.

Continue about 12 miles to stop sign at Rt. 60 and go straight across 60 onto Rt. 605. Continue 7 miles to the

park entrance on left.

From Farmville:

Travel Rt. 15 north to Dillwyn, Sprouses Corner. Turn left onto Rt. 60 west and continue for about 25 miles.

Turn right on Rt. 605 and go about 7 miles to park entrance on left.

Charles City County ¨C VCU Rice Center

3701 John Tyler Memorial Highway, Charles City, VA 23030

The Rice Center is located 35 minutes southeast of Richmond, along the James River and off the historic John

Tyler Memorial Highway (Route 5) between the Berkeley and Shirley plantations in Charles City County, Va.

From Richmond either take Route 5 out of Richmond or take I-64 East to I-295 South, exiting at Exit 22A East

onto Rt. 5 (New Market Road). New Market Road is later named John Tyler Memorial Highway. The entrance

to the Rice Center is on the right, approximately 11 miles from I-295 and exactly one mile east of the

intersection of Rt. 5 with routes 106 and 156. Take our gravel road one mile to the James River and our

buildings.

City, Va. When using this service, please pay careful attention that the entrance for the Rice Center is on the

south side of Route 5.

Chesterfield County¨CDutch Gap Boat Landing

441 Coxendale Road, Chester, VA 23831

From Interstate 95 (north or south)

Take Exit 61-A (Route 10 East) toward Hopewell. Make a left at the first stoplight onto Old Stage Road (Route

732 North) and follow for two miles. At the first stop sign make a right onto Coxendale Road (Route 615 East)

and follow to the end.

From Interstate 295 (east or west)

Take exit 15 (Route 10 West) toward Chester and follow for 3 ? miles. Take a right onto Old Stage Road

(Route 732 North) and follow for 2 miles. At the first stop sign make a right onto Coxendale Road (Route 615

East) and follow to the end.

Chesterfield County - Falling Creek Ironworks

6201 Jefferson Davis Highway, Chester, VA 23831

From the Chippenham Parkway

Exit south on Jefferson Davis Highway (Route 1/301), take the first left turn into the Falling Creek Apartments

after crossing Falling Creek.

From the south on Jefferson Davis Highway

Turn right into the Falling Creek Apartments off of the Jefferson Davis Highway before the Falling Creek

Bridge.

Falling Creek crosses the highway between DuPont and Bellwood.

City of Lynchburg ¨C Percival Island

From Rt. 29 Expressway North or South

Take the Main St. Exit towards downtown. Travel through the first traffic light, turn right just before

the 2nd traffic light on Washington St. Travel Washington St. down a hill 1/4 mile and the street ends

right in front of Percival's Island.

City of Newport News ¨C Huntington Park & Beach

Riverpark Road, Newport News, VA 23607

From I-64

Take exit 255A for VA-143E/Jefferson Avenue and travel 7.6 miles. Turn right onto Mercury Road

and travel about 0.5 miles. Turn right onto Riverpark Road and travel about 0.2 miles. Turn right onto

Biggins Circle see destination on the left.

City of Richmond ¨C Bellemeade Community

1620 Gunn Street, Richmond, VA 23224

From areas south via I-95

Take I-95 N and exit 67B - Chippenham Parkway (VA 150). Take Jefferson Davis Highway/US-1

North/ US-301 N., travel 3.6 miles. Turn right onto Royall Avenue and travel 0.5 miles. Turn left onto

Gunn Street. Cleanup site is about 0.5 miles on the left near the intersection with Minefee Street.

From Richmond and areas north via I-95

Take I-95 S and Exit 73 to Maury St. Take exit 73 from I-95 S. Turn left onto Maury St. Turn left onto

Commerce Rd. Turn right onto Royall Ave. Take the 1st right onto Gunn St. Cleanup site is about 0.5

miles on the left near the intersection with Minefee Street.

City of Richmond ¨C Bryan Park

4308 Hermitage Road, Richmond, VA 23227

From the East

Take I-64 W to where I-64 W and I-95N converge, and continue on I-64W/I-95N. As the roads diverge, take I95 North toward Washington. Take the first exit (? mile, exit 80 ¨C Hermitage Rd./ Lakeside Ave./VA 161).

Follow the signs to Hermitage Rd. Take a right and cross over I-95. As soon as you cross over I-95, the entrance

is to your left. Meet at the Park's Nature Center.

From the North

Take I-95 S toward Richmond. Use exit 82 (Chamberlayne Ave./ US 301) and continue south on Chamberlayne

Ave. Follow Chamberlayne across Azalea Ave. to the next light, Westbrook Ave. Take a right on Westbrook

Ave. Follow Westbrook until it dead ends into Hermitage Rd. (VA 161) Take a right on Hermitage Rd. and

cross over I-95. As soon as you cross over I-95, the entrance is to your left. Meet at the Park's Nature Center.

City of Richmond ¨C James River Park - Pony Pasture Rapids

Riverside Drive, Richmond, VA 23225

From the south

Huguenot Road Bridge (VA 147), follow Riverside Drive east for approximately 2 miles. The main Pony

Pasture Rapids parking lot is on the left just after the road curves away from the river.

From Forest Hill Avenue

Chippenham Parkway (VA 150) to the southwest and Powhite Parkway (VA 76) to the southeast.

Turn north from Forest Hill onto Hathaway Road. Proceed to a Y intersection and veer left. The road (now

Scottview Drive) makes a sharp left to become Riverside Drive. Turn right, again, to remain on Riverside, and

the parking area will be your next right. A smaller eastern parking lot is also accessible from Forest Hill by

turning right from Hathaway Road onto Wallowa Road. Take the second left onto Landrai Drive, which deadends adjacent to the park.

North on Chippenham Pkwy. (Rt. 150). Take the Jahnke Road (Rt. 686, Hospital) exit. Turn Right on Jahnke

Road - follow to Riverside Drive. Turn Right on Forest Hill Ave¡­follow to 42nd St. Turn left on 42nd

¡­follow to Riverside Drive. Turn Right on Riverside Drive. At the bottom of the hill, turn left into the parking

lot (across from Hillcrest Drive). Cross the railroad tracks.

From South

South on I-195 to Powhite Pkwy. (across James River)¡­Take the Forest Hill Avenue exit. Turn left onto Forest

Hill Ave¡­follow to 42nd Street. Turn left on 42nd ¡­follow to Riverside Drive. Turn Right on Riverside

drive¡­at the bottom of the hill¡­turn left into the parking lot (across from Hillcrest Drive). Cross the railroad

tracks.

From I-95 South, take exit 73 for Maury Street toward Commerce Road. Turn left onto Maury Street. Turn right

From I-95 Nouth, take exit 73 for Maury Street. Turn left onto Maury Street. Turn right onto Commerce Road.

Turn left onto Hull Street. Volunteers will meet on Hull Street at the Manchester Courthouse at across from the

McDonald's.

Goochland County ¨C Tucker Park at Maiden¡¯s Landing

1300 Maidens Road, Maidens, VA 23102

Travel west on Route 6 to Goochland Courthouse, turn left onto State Rte 634/US-522 S. The site is 1/3 of a

mile on the right.

Henrico County ¨C Osborne Boat Landing

9530 Osborne Turnpike, Henrico, VA 23231

From Interstate 64 (east or west)

Take Exit 195 (Laburnum Avenue). Go south on Laburnum Avenue and then left onto New Market Rd

(approximately 7 miles). Travel on New Market Rd approximately 2 ? miles and take a right onto Strath Rd

(Food Lion on the right). Follow Strath Road to a stop sign and turn right onto Kingsland Road, which turns into

Osborne Turnpike. Travel approximately 2 ? miles (slowly ¨C 90-degree turn to right) and turn left into Osborne

Boat Landing.

From Interstate 295 (north or south)

Take Exit 22B (Varina/Route 5). Travel seven-tenths of a mile and turn left onto Strath Road. Follow Strath

Road to a stop sign and turn right onto Kingsland Road, which turns into Osborne Turnpike. Travel

approximately 2 ? miles (slowly ¨C 90-degree turn to right) and turn left into Osborne Boat Landing.

Powhatan County ¨C Maidens Landing

Rt. 522 (Maidens Road)

From Henrico:

Travel west on Patterson Avenue (Route 6), just before reaching Goochland, turn left on Route 522 (Maidens

Road). Cross the bridge (James River). Maidens Boat Landing is the first right after the bridge. Parking is

beside the south side of the river.

From Chesterfield:

Travel west on Route 60 (Midlothian Turnpike). Turn right at the stoplight (in Powhatan) at Route 522

(Maidens Road). Travel approximately 11 miles. Turn left before the bridge (crosses the James River).

Maidens Landing is located on your right.
