| |APPOINTMENT: August 2010 |

| |REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree in Emergency Management or closely related field (ABD considered); |

| |experience with comprehensive emergency managment; potential for scholarship and service activities that meet |

| |departmental criteria for advancement; demonstrated competence teaching college level courses such as |

| |all-hazards emergency preparedness, disaster response and recovery, risk assessment, emergency planning, |

| |incident management, mitigation, public health preparedness, and business continuity. |

| |PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in emergency operations planning and exercising; public health and/or |

| |medical care preparedness, or business continuity; focus on the four phases of emergency management; emergency |

| |management field experience; research publications/active research agenda. |

| |RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching assignment includes core and elective courses in Emergency Management undergraduate |

| |program; engage in a level of scholarship and professional service meeting departmental and university criteria|

| |for advancement. |

| |RANK & SALARY: Assistant Professor (tenure track, 9 month). Salary commensurate with background and |

| |THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Health Sciences at Western Illinois University offers a Bachelor of Science |

| |in Emergency Management, a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Services|

| |Management on the Macomb campus. A Master of Science in Health Education is available on both the Macomb and |

| |Quad Cities campuses. Undergraduate students majoring in health sciences may select one of two emphases: |

| |community health education or environmental and occupational safety. |
