SECRETARY'S MESSAGE
Welcome to Papua New Guinea 2013 annual Education Statistical bulletin once again. The National Department of Education (NDoE) strives to provide accurate and timely provision of statistics to measure progress in our education system in the country. The sources of these statistics are the basses for education planning and good decision making for our government. Since 2005, the National Department of Education had introduced a comprehensive National Education Plan (2005-2014).The Plan has been implemented and will end in 2014. In order to track the progress of this plan, DoE will need credible and reliable data to measure its performance against the major NEP outcomes. Therefore, this book has been produced to detail the progress we have made in 2013. The data we collect will establish the baseline on our current performance and set realistic targets within the resources we have. Therefore, this information should influence the next annual cycle of divisional and provincial planning. I urge you all to use this book to guide you to develop DOE policies, plans, programs and projects.
Dr Michael F. Tapo, EdD Secretary for Education
