Hall of Fame and Reunions

As I write this letter, Thanksgiving was one week ago and at PSH we are only

weeks away from the end of the first semester before break starts. So many activi-

ties have taken place since my last message. The alumni once again participated

in Homecoming events. We have been looking for more ways to improve alumni

participation in Homecoming. We once again had an incredible Hall of Fame

induction. Once again, at the morning ceremony, our Redmen students proved

themselves. They paid close attention during the entire ceremony. They listened

to the wonderful introductions written by Gil Fritzsche. They paid careful atten-

tion to each inductee as they had their time speak.

LETTERS TO EDITOR Robert Mengerink 1968 Thanks to all of you for selecting me to be inducted into the PSH Hall of Fame. I was so excited about this event. It is a real honor to be selected, Thanks for all that the Alumni Association does .Thanks for all you are doing for all Alumni.

Thank you Robert. We are proud of all our graduates. Letting all alumni know what a few of our graduates have accomplished in their lives shines a light on the quality of the education we received at the Queen of High schools. With our newsletter we try to highlight accomplishments of many of or grads. We will continue to print those stories as well. The Editor

From The Editor's Desk by Anthony DeMarco `62 "Happy Holidays"

Reminiscing about the Holiday Season and Winters at PSH Past I sometimes think that some of todays students are missing some wonderful things that we used to do with the end of Fall and the approach of Winter. Going through the archives in the Archive Room and up in the third floor storage room, provides old photos of past memories. The Fall hayrides, the bonfires before Homecoming, the ice skating at Ridgewood lake or the lake at State Road park. Sled riding down the great hill at State Road Park and then enjoying thermoses of hot chocolate to warm you up. School decorations on the windows, caroling in the halls, and the Christmas concerts. Some great memories. Holiday wishes On behalf of myself, the entire Tradition Staff and the PSH Alumni Assoc. Board, we wish you and yours the happiest and joyous of Seasons. Each year we are so thankful for your support and kind wishes for our continued success. We will try to continue to provide you with PSH current events, class information, and PSH Alumni news. We will also try to remind you of some of the great past memories of your high school years. On another Important Note After months of meetings with the State, community leaders, staff, and parents, the decisions on what the Parma City Schools will look like in the future will soon be presented. I have been trying to get an answer to my question--where does Parma Sr. High fit in all of this? Will there be one High School, two or three? Will all three high schools be torn down and 1,2,or 3 be rebuilt? We will soon find out. When we do, you will too.

PARMA SCHOOLS POSSIBLE CONSOLIDATION PLANS

BY CHARLES SMIALEK SUPERINTENDENT PARMA CITY SCHOOLS This fall residents will provide their reactions to specifications for the Parma city Schools Campuses of the future. GPD Group and Parma schools' leaders analyzed survey data and feedback from the spring's meetings to determine the options most likely to gain consensus support. These are the options: Elementary Schools (Pre-K through 5th Grade) Option A: Six schools Option B: Seven schools Option C: Eight schools Secondary Schools (6th through 12th grade) Option A: One high school (9-12), two middle schools (6-8) Option B: Three secondary campuses, each with one 6-8 schools and one 9-12 school Option C: Two secondary campuses, each with one 6-8 school and one 9-12 school and a separate campus for Career Technical Edcation and other district functions. Community members will now be able to share their perspectives about the best possible models of the locations for schools. Board President John Schweitzer explained, "The idea all along has been to consolidate the number of campuses that we operate. In each of the secondary models that we are weighing, we will be able to reduce the number of campuses we operate from six to three. On the other hand, we know from our surveys and meetings that neighborhood elementary schools are very popular. We have to determine the most appropriate number of these. We will use this fall to gain more information about what people think we should do." The Board of Education also heard from Squire, Patton, and Boggs attorney Richard Manoloff. Mr. Manoloff explained the Expedited Local Partnership Program (ELPP), which the district will most likely use for funding construction if it passes a bond issue in 2020. More information can be found on the district's website, superintendent. The PSHAlumni Assoc. urges all Alumni to express you feelings by email or attending the community meeting 12/14/19 10 pm to 11:30 at Parma Branch Library PowerasBlvd.
