LUNCHROOM FORM

Dear Parents/Guardians:

It is important for children to have a significant break in their school day during the lunch hour. Our lunch hour is from 11:29 a.m. to 12:29 p.m. The north and south doors of the building open at 12:20 p.m. to provide students with enough time to go to their lockers and prepare themselves for their afternoon classes (i.e., obtain books/binders, homework, etc.). Afternoon classes begin promptly at 12:29 p.m.

Adult supervision is provided for the duration of the lunch period for those students wishing to remain on school property to eat their lunch in the cafeteria. The cafeteria space is open for students to eat their lunch that they have brought from home.

Outdoor supervision on our school grounds begins at 11:50 a.m. If students need to use the school washroom while they are outside on school grounds, they must report to a lunchroom supervisor to open the south doors for them. The front doors must not be used at lunchtime by students unless accompanied by an adult. At 12:00 p.m. all students in the lunchroom are expected to exit safely onto the back field, where they are supervised until the bell sounds at 12:20 p.m. for afternoon entry into the school. All students attending the lunchroom, and remaining on school property, are expected to abide by the school code of conduct as well as the lunch routines outlined above.

School staff do not supervise students who leave the school grounds. Students that chose to leave the school grounds are expected to behave respectfully and responsibly in the surrounding community.

To reduce the amount of waste, please try to send your child to school with a litterless lunch. Ideally this means that each child would bring their food in plastic containers in a reusable lunch bag.

Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Marc Sprack

Principal

My child will be attending the lunchroom daily. I understand that my child will be expected to stay on school property the entire lunch period and will be supervised during this time.

My child will not be attending the lunchroom (i.e., either going home for lunch, or eating in a location off school property). I understand that my child will not be supervised when off school property.

Note: If your child wishes to have their lunch on school property on certain days, they may do so with the understanding that they remain on school property the entire lunch period under the supervision of school staff.
