Surrender to Beauty

Ask for a Wonder!

January 13, 2015 - His Way!

“Ask a sign for yourself from the Lord your God; ask it either in the depth or in the height above” (Isaiah 7:11).

1. In order to be able to surrender to Beauty, you may need Wonderful to show you something.

“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

“The Angel of the Lord said to him, ‘Why do you ask My name, seeing it is wonderful?’” (Judges 13:18)

• What does Someone named “Wonderful” sound like when He speaks?!

• Surrendering to Beauty means that we agree with God to look at His goodness no matter what. We give in to the Good found in any situation by deciding to seek His insight, and lay down our own perspective!

2. We cannot believe “enough” unless Father God helps us. He sometimes helps us through showing us wonders!

“Though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe

that the Father is in Me, and I in Him” (John 10:38).

I have forgotten prosperity. I said, “My strength and my hope Have perished from the LORD.” My soul still remembers and sinks within me. [Then] I recall to my mind and have hope. Through the LORD’S mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him” (Lamentations 3:17b-24).

3. MIRACLES HAPPEN! But some people have determined to trudge through life without them.

“Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:29

4. Miracles are God’s public displays of affection for people! Miracles begin when you ask God.

“Speaking to groups outside of my own community of believers, I often tell about the miracles that we witness in Reno/Sparks, Nevada. Then I ask the listeners if they know why we see so many miracles. With this question, the air becomes charged with expectation as individuals hold their breaths, waiting for the magic answer. The simplicity of the answer is in itself breath-taking: “WE ASK!” Linda Anderson, Where Miracles Begin, page 1

“Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours” King Jesus (Mark 11:24).

5. Miracles characterize Jesus' ministry, and are the calling cards that announce to people that the Lord God and His

Kingdom are on the scene! WOW!

6. One tiny wire that has gone haywire . . . or a word misinterpreted can cause a cold heart or house!

“If my heart has grown cold, there Your love will unfold, as You open my eyes to the work of Your hand.”~ Hillsong

“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.

But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness” (Matthew 6:22-23).

7. We can see life through the light of God's goodness and behold His beauty!

“So I say, ‘Even if I am in pain, I put on my rose colored glasses; see the world light instead of dark . . . I can do this!’” Norma Lee Byerly (Linda Anderson's mom), Real Women in the Middle of Real Life, by Linda Anderson and Marcia Ridpath, p.148

“Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us” (Psalm 90:17).
