The title is: dangerous sports, activities and pastimes are selfish, often put others at risk and should be discouraged

Extreme Sports is the definition of a decidedly dangerous, fast - paced sport; with the extremities of this sport heightened to provide maximum enjoyment.

In an extreme sport people jump off cliffs, down cliffs, out of aeroplanes with or without a bungee jump rope – all voluntarily!

Why? To experience something. To feel adrenaline pumping round their body, or to feel weightless and powerful. So afterwards they can try and fail to describe how brilliant it was.

Yes, it is dangerous and sometimes people can get hurt, but in the words of Cheryl Cole ‘’it’s worth having, it’s worth fighting for!’’Taking a risk if half the whole experience of the event- feeling like your hands is in someone else’s hands, or that your body is at the mercy of nature – this completes the memory of it all.

Admittedly, that is why it is extreme sports, but it is absurd that it is ‘dangerous to those around you.’ It’s your choice whether you want to do it. Your choice whether you want to jump. Your choice completely, no one else’s. If you want to do it, do it. Don’t hide away for the rest of your life saying I’ll do it tomorrow – opportunities are given to your for a reason.

Extreme sports can keep you in a extreme healthy state as well. By pushing your body to the limits, you can gain muscles you never thought were there.

Of course you have to train to certain extent for all or most extreme sports, but that is not expected of course. Also you need a good dose of common sense and a drive to do it- relatively in equal amounts most people think.

70% percent of people that take part in extreme sports are more likely to live longer. 70%! Does anyone not want extreme sports now?

If you take all of these points into consideration, the fact that some vehemently discourage these activities from taking place seems almost stupid. Obviously, family or friends might have the right to be worried for your safety, but even they don’t have the right to choose what you do and don’t do (taking into account that almost all extreme sports do not permit people under 18, so if you know your under 18, I’m not talking about you unfortunately.)

The origin of the term ‘Extreme Sports’ was first used by Ben Richardson, an adrenaline junkie in his late 20s, who jumped off a cliff without a parachute into the sea below. This radical action started the revolution that drove sport as a culture to find new ways to reach new goals.

Ben Richardson was quoted in so many newspapers there was enough to create a 500 page book but his famous line is still used today. ‘’Take life as your own, it was given to you for a reason.’’

Dangerous sports are a way of life but should a person risk their life just to save a person who risked their life?

People who put their selves at risk of dying shouldn’t deserve to carry on with dangerous sports. To me, a dangerous sport is like someone choosing to take their own life it could work if they wanted it, but it couldn’t if they changed their mind half way through it.

However, dangerous sports are breathtaking to those who don’t have the guts to do something like hat. I class motorbike racing as a dangerous sport. People have the guts to learn them and to race on them. It’s all just something new and different to us.

On the other hand, I’m pretty sure no one would like to be at a motorbike race just to see someone die or get severely hurt. It’s like Formula 1, I like to watch it because it is fun and because I would never have the guts to do something like that. But whenever I see a crash my heart skips a beat because you never know what’s happened to them until it pops up on the news, in a newspaper article or it pops up on the radio.

However, watching people risk their life for entertainment is rewarding. It’s also rewarding for them if they win a trophy or a medal. They become proud of themselves and aim to achieve more. For example, Jenson Button and Michael Schumacher. They have worked on racing since they were young and it have paid off Jenson Button’s in the Guiness Book of Records and Michael Schumacher is the world’s youngest Formula 1 driver.

Then again, people who take part in dangerous sports are constantly in the eye of the paparazzi and the press. This means that all of their personal life is spilled and everyone finds out what happened in their personal lives. I feel sorry for them because I wouldn’t like my personal life shared with everyone.

Although people who take part in dangerous sports can be selfish and try to purposely ruin someones chances of winning. Doing a dangerous sport can lead to selfishness and so much more.

On the other side of this, the public generally like to watch this because it keeps them entertained as it is something you don’t see everyday. For, example million of people will watch formula 1 or pay to watch them go around in a circuit.

Inconclusion to this, I am not against dangerous sports as it is entertainment. If not was around, then people would have to fid something else to do or talk about famous people’s lives.

Is there anything better than the feeling of pure adrenaline? Your heart is racing, your Blood is pumping, your sense are alive……But is that worth putting yourself and other in danger?

It’s people’s personal choice to take part in dangerous sports, no one forces them to do it. They do it because it is something they love doing. Surely, it wouldn’t be fair to stop people doing something they love.

Moreover, many things can be classed as dangerous. People can die on their way to Tesco, but no one is going to ban Tesco.

Dangerous sports offer a thrill that is absent from everyday life and that people feel it to stop them from turning to illegal substances for this excitement they need. Also dangerous sports can help you feel less stressed about life.

However, people participating in dangerous sports need to be aware of how deadly they can be. Participants of this sport need to act sensibly and responsibly and take every safety precaution.

In addition to this, it is not fair for rescue workers to give up their life trying to save people who got into difficulty while participating in dangerous sports. Overall, I think we should allow dangerous sports.

In conclusion, it is people’s personal choice to participate in dangerous sports and therefore it should not be discouraged. However, people need to ensure they stay as safe as possible. They need to be aware it is not only their life, but the life of safety workers they are endangering.
