Public Speaking: Final Speech

Public Speaking: Final Speech

Eulogy Assignment: 20% of 6th 6 weeks grade

A. Student will prepare a four-minute speech

B. Proper structure for an informative speech should be followed (hook, intro, body, etc.)

C. For the speech, you should choose a person in your life who has influenced or changed you in a positive way, and honor that person

Hint: You may want to try and incorporate some of the following ideas into your speech:

• WHY is this person so important to you?

• Re-create any stories that come to mind when you think of this person.

• What are some qualities this person has that make them so unique?

• Tell us the life history of the person.

• What does this person do for a living?

• How did you first meet?

• What keeps you together?

• What are some of the things that remind you of this person and why?

• What does this person do for you? What do you do for them?

• How would your life be different if you had not met this person?

A reminder:

We will be working on these in class, however, because of this project’s heavy weight grade-wise, you will need to be working on it during your own time. Whether or not you use it when you give the speech, you must turn in a final copy of the speech the day it is given. You must know your speech well enough that you will not have to read from the page, rather refer to it when you need to. This is your last chance to prove to me that you have mastered the art of public speaking, so make it good!

Good Luck!
