SAGAMORE HILL TRIP: Wednesday, 10/25. Visit Theodore Roosevelt’s “Summer White House” and explore the Roosevelt family home. Private tour followed by lunch at a local pizzeria. $20.00pp.

BOOK CLUB: Wednesday, 10/25 @ 2:00pm. Ellen Berman of the RVC Library leads a discussion of “A Girl’s Guide to Moving On” by Debbie Macomber. Books are available at the front desk.

OSTEOPOROSIS LECTURE: Friday, 10/27 @ 2:15 (after the General Meeting). This lecture is presented by Dr. Mia Clar of Northwell Health.

SUNDAY FUNDAY: Sunday, 10/29 from 3:00pm-7:00pm. Come in costume and be prepared to have a goulish and ghostly good time. Dinner, games and prizes for the best costume.

10/10 @ 11:00am: “Everything you Wanted to Know About Hearing Health, Hearing Loss and Options –but are Afraid to Ask”. Presented by Annette Morreale, Audiology of Nassau County.

10/24 @ 11:00am: “Medicare Fraud Prevention”. Health care fraud is on the rise! Seniors, don’t allow yourself to be a victim. Join Assemblyman Brian Curran and Live On New York for a Medicare fraud prevention presentation. Get the facts about the new Medicare cards, learn how to spot potential fraud, and protect yourself from common health care scams.

10/31 @ 11:00am: History of Halloween. Come and learn about the origin of today’s Halloween. There will be games and treats.

SANDEL SUPPER CLUB’S “NOVEMBERFEST”: Wednesday, 11/1. @ 4:00pm. A fall-inspired dinner dance with some real home cooking and music by Al Zimmerman. Bring your own refreshments to share. The Mayor’s Youth Task Force will serve and mingle. $15.00pp. Limit 49. Sign-up 10/10.

VETERAN’S DAY LUNCHEON: Wednesday, 11/8 @ 12 noon. The Men’s club hosts this luncheon Pay tribute to all our men and women in uniform. Lunch courtesy of Atria Lynbrook $5.00pp ($7.00 charged day of event) will be donated to The Disabled American Veterans. No Refunds!.

NYCB THEATRE & LUNCH AT APPLEBEES: Tuesday, 11/14. “Married to Broadway”. Broadway show tunes sung by a couple who met on the Broadway stage. Limit 40. $55.00pp. Sign up 10/16.

CRAFT FAIR: Friday, 11/17

THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON: Monday, 11/20 @ 12 noon. Sandel members will gather with friends for a traditional Thanksgiving lunch. $5.00pp.

RVC SANDEL CENTER MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of the RVC Sandel Center to provide Rockville Centre older residents with a multipurpose facility that promotes vital aging and life satisfaction through programs and activities, volunteer and civic participation and meaningful social engagement.

SENIORVERSITY CLASSES: Beginning the week of October 2nd six sessions of Pilates, Meditation, & Thursday Yoga are made available through a partnership with the RVC School District. There is a $15.00 fee for these 6 sessions. Sign-up forms are available at the front desk. Check should be made payable to the RVC School District.

ART FOR THE HEART – BUSY HANDS & HAPPY HEART

“You are What you Create!”

Empower and enrich your life through the creative process of hands on self-expression with multiple art modalities. Embrace and honor your stories, feelings, memories and ideas in a nurturing atmosphere! Bonnie O’Connor, ATR, will be instructing this brand new arts program at Sandel.

This new program will meet on Fridays at 10:00am on,10/6, 10/13, 11/3 and 12/1.

FALL FASHION SHOW & LUNCHEON: Friday, 10/6 @ 12 noon. See the latest clothing trends modeled at Sandel. Ladies fashions supplied by Dress Barn and mens fashions by Advance Formal Wear. $5.00pp ($7.00 charged day of event) Sign up now.

ARTIST RECEPTION: Tuesday, 10/17 @ 1:00pm. This month’s artist is Bonnie O’Connor, the instructor of the new “Art for the Heart” program. She will be describing her many works of art.

BELMONT RACETRACK: Wednesday, 10/18. With more than 110 years of tradition, Belmont Park plays host to the finest thoroughbred racing in the country. Enjoy a buffet lunch in a private dining room with access to the track. Proper attire please (no jeans). $55.00pp. Limit 40. Members only.

FLEA MARKET: Friday, 10/20 from 10:00am-3:00pm. It’s never too early too start cleaning out the closets for the fall. Remember, something you no longer use just might be someone’s treasure.

Donations accepted beginning Monday, 10/16. If you are interested in helping with the setup or selling, please speak to Jo Gallagher or Laura.
