He blew a smoke ring up and was looking up the tree, but stopped before he got to Rainsford, and turned around and left. He was right because Zaroff smiled and Zaroff is a really good tracker.

11. How does Zaroff stock his island with “game”? He uses surviving sailors from boat wrecks or he buys them.

12. What happened to General Zaroff at the end of the story? It doesn’t state it directly, but we infer that Rainsford killed him.

13. Inspite of being hurt, Zaroff congratulates Rainsford on his “Malay mancatcher,” why? Not many men know how to make a malay man-catcher.

14. How do we know Rainsford is an exceptionally fit man? He swims to the island and ran a lot when Zaroff was hunting him. He climbed a tree and dug a huge pit.
