The Walsh Building is located in the south part of downtown Milwaukee east of the Harley Davidson Museum. Francis A. Walsh built this historic cream city brick building with wood floors and timber columns in 1899.  The building was soon after owned by John Deere for tractors and parts sales.

This is the 2nd largest historic building in the district. Historic tax credits are available but a historic renovation is not required. The six floors total 120,000 square feet, one of which is partially below grade.   The warehouse is approximately 143 feet by 140 feet with one brick firewall with arched openings in the middle. to connect each side 

The floor to ceiling heights are: 1st Floor - 11 feet 1 inch, 2nd - 14 feet, 3rd - 11 feet 9 inches,  4th - 11 feet 9 inches,  5th - 11 feet 7 inches,  6th - 14 feet 4 inches around by the outer wall sloping down to 11 feet 1 inch at the center drain.  The building has a fire sprinkler system and 2 large 6,000-pound freight elevators.

Real estate taxes due in 2019 are $35,005.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD: This building is ready for redevelopment as it is located in a former commercial area. This neighborhood is being redeveloped into an exciting place to live and work.   The Walsh Building neighbors new high priced condominiums ( some $1,000,000+ ), new apartments, new fine restaurants and new businesses.

It is an easy walk to the new Amtrak train station, the 75 acre Summerfest festival park along Lake Michigan, Grand Avenue Mall, major banks, Milwaukee Public Market, the Historic Third Ward area and other downtown entertainment. The freeway is easily accessed with entry and exit ramps a few blocks away.

ZONING: The current zoning is INDUSTRIAL-MIXED (IM). This district is intended to provide for the orderly conversion of certain older industrial and warehousing areas with multi-story buildings to residential, commercial or office uses.
