SUFFIXES TO FORM ADJECTIVES

Suffixes are endings that we add to the root to form new words. The following are suffixes that we add to NOUNS and VERBS to form ADJECTIVES:

- able / - al / ate / - ful / - less / - ble / - ive / - ous

Some of them give a certain meaning: - ful (= with); - less ( = without)

Examples:

OTHER SUFFIXES TO FORM ADJECTIVES:

-ed = The person or thing affected experiences a certain effect. (PASSIVE MEANING)

Ex. I am bored / interested / tired / stressed.

- ing = the person or thing affected causes this effect. (ACTIVE MEANING)

Ex. He is boring / interesting / tiring / stressing.
