Our collection has been described as one of the most outstanding Jewish collections in Europe, with over 30,000 objects, documents, photographs and oral histories charting the growth of Manchester’s diverse Jewish communities, a city with the second largest Jewish population in the UK. Our newly refreshed brand will mark a bold and ambitious new chapter for the Museum and centres around making connections and finding common ground to make positive change. The fundamental aim of the role is to work with the team on the repositioning of Manchester Jewish Museum in line with our manifesto, our newly refreshed brand (sneak preview of the logo above) and brand values, as described above. One of your first tasks will be to launch our new brand identity and website this autumn, with the support of our marketing consultants PalmerSquared. You will be responsible for implementing a new way of working within our small team to better understand and deliver marketing communications campaigns, and work in partnership with our numerous partners to develop our relationships with our diverse range of target audiences. What we need you to doAs a small team, we all lead on certain areas and support on others – planning and budgeting, press & PR, audience and desk research, evaluation, social media, database management, design for print/promotion, marketing support for partnerships/funders etc. This role will contribute across all areas of marketing communications and audience development, often in a leading role that informs and develops strategy as well as ensures great delivery.Your PurposeTo build the Manchester Jewish Museum brand and reputation as a leading cultural player in the city and region.To develop audiences including those that are hard to engage.To implement the marketing, media and audience strategy that will support Manchester Jewish Museum in achieving its stated artistic, audience development and financial objectives.To manage the day-to-day running of the marketing communications function, its budget, resources, campaigns, and creative work, as well as how it integrates and works across the team.To closely monitor ticket sales and engagement levels and to ensure maximum impacts, metrics and income for each element of the year-round programme. Your DutiesResponsible for the strategic and tactical delivery of all Manchester Jewish Museum marketing, communications and audience development activities.Work with the CEO to implement a new ticketing and CRM system prior to re-opening including enabling improved segmentation of existing customer data.Establish and manage an evaluation framework and generate audience insights to inform planning and resource/activity allocation, and identify areas for data mining and further analysis, e.g. daily monitoring of ticketing data, Google Analytics (website and social media) visitor surveys (on and offline).Plan and coordinate the promotion of events and work with the team to build attendance for the events programme.Manage the completion of the new website including design and build agency liaison and content creation, then continue to manage website content accordingly. Manage content for dissemination through appropriate e-communications and social media channels and monitor analytics to inform ongoing digital communications.Write engaging copy for use in a range of collateral including: press releases, website, blog, brochures, leaflets, articles, e-newsletters, third-party channels etc.Manage all print production requirements, e.g. for advocacy, leaflets and brochures.Liaise with third party partners, e.g. community groups, funders, project partners regarding the coordination of marketing and communications activities.Set up and maintain a media database and identify and develop press & PR opportunities to generate media coverage.Manage the marketing budget.Work with the CEO to deliver effective internal communications, including staff, volunteers, Friends and trustees.WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOREssentialOf graduate calibre with the necessary gravitas and maturity to liaise at a senior level with partners.Work well within a team, whilst able and comfortable working independently.A minimum of 3-years’ experience of marketing in the arts and/or creative media/leisure sectors.Marketing planning/strategy development;Planning, monitoring and evaluation;Experience of marketing events; Implementation of marketing and media campaigns;Experience of developing, delivering and monitoring digital and social media campaigns and communications;Experience of delivery proactive PR activity;Budgetary control;Practical experience of the day-to-day operation of a marketing function;Research/data/metrics management & report generation.A creative flair for ideas and spotting opportunities, with the confidence and ability to express and develop them.Experience of e-marketing and communications via social networking to build and engage with audiences, both public and professional.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for a variety of platforms.Ability to work without direct supervision, negotiate and solve problems using own initiative.Willingness to work non-office hours on occasion where required (likely peak periods of activity around major events and launches will require time management flexibility).Enthusiasm for the Manchester Jewish Museum and commitment to its manifesto and values.DesirableKnowledge of the Manchester area.Ability to work to a basic level with graphic design software.Experience of managing casual staff/volunteers.Experience of working in/with the public sector.Experience of local audience engagement, including through community groups.Experience of contributing to revenue generation and working to sales targets.Knowledge of Manchester’s cultural offer and venues.
