The diagnosis of a plasma cell neoplasm can be made on a sample obtained from a lesion involving bone or an extraosseous site. Sample types include fine-needle aspiration, core biopsy, incisional biopsy, or excisional biopsy, all of which are acceptable for establishing a primary diagnosis in the proper clinical and imaging context and with proper immunophenotypic support. ................
