ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTOR

The Assistant Program Director has the responsibility to assist the Program Director in providing and maintaining a comfortable and safe environment for all persons served by DRCC, and encouraging each person to achieve the greatest level of independence possible. The Assistant Program Director provides direction and leadership necessary to assist staff with the guidance, counsel, and teaching required to further the growth of the persons served in our facilities.

The Assistant Program Director will:

A. Develop and maintain relationships with the people served by DRCC that respect their rights and promote their interests by:

1. Knowing and implementing DRCC's goals and philosophy and training other staff in these areas.

2. Being knowledgeable of the needs of the persons served and ensuring that these needs are met.

3. Assuring that DRCC’s policies and procedures are followed.

4. Respecting each person receiving services.

B. Protect the health and safety of persons served by DRCC by:

Ensuring and providing for the security and safety of each person, especially in the areas of transportation, health care, and fire/emergency safety.

C. Coordinate the various aspects of providing services to the people served by implementing Coordinated Service and Support Plans and:

1. Providing assistance, training, and supervision in the areas of hygiene, toileting, dressing, grooming, nutrition, health care, support services, use of specialized equipment, leisure time, community social interactions, and personal finances.

2. Communicating client illness, appointments, vacations, etc. with day program/work and other service providers on an ongoing basis.

3. Assist clients with personal care including lifting, transferring, bathing, and toileting as needed.

4. Implement behavior management plans including physical escorts, restraints, etc. when needed.

5. Coordinating, training, and supervising other staff in working with persons we serve.

D. Maintain the building and equipment by:

1. Organizing fire safety drills and schedules.

2. Training and supervising residents and other staff in the cleaning and orderliness of the home.

3. Identifying and reporting needed repairs to the Program Director.

4. Coordinating the purchasing and monitoring of food, health care, and cleaning supplies within budgetary guidelines.

5. Providing input regarding building, property, and furniture needs.

E. Display personal communication skills by:

1. Communicating clearly and appropriately with the people we serve.

2. Contributing to a positive work environment by encouraging, supporting, and demonstrating effective and respectful communication among DRCC staff.

3. Establishing good interpersonal working relationships with families, other professionals, and the public.

F. Perform administrative functions by:

1. Completing Quarterly and Annual Reports as directed by the Program Director.

2. Writing and revising programs as directed by the Program Director.

3. Keeping accurate records of petty cash and resident finances.

4. Scheduling staff as directed by the Program Director.

5. Providing leadership and supervision to Direct Support Professionals.

6. Documenting programs, goal progress, medical needs and care, unusual incidents, etc., accurately and thoroughly.

7. Assisting with the development, management, and monitoring of the facility budget.

8. Attending meetings and training sessions.

9. Performing other delegated duties as assigned.

G. In absence of Program Director assume Program Director responsibilities.
