|Strategy: STOP and DARE a Persuasive Writing Strategy |

|Appropriate Grade Level: 6th grade – 12th grade |

|Procedures/Steps: |

|Suspend Judgment: Write bits of information down about a given idea. However, keep an open mind. |

|Take a side: Decide which side of the topic to be on. |

|Organize Idea: Students select a number of ideas that will support their view and at least on that does not support their view. |

|Plan more as You Write: Students need to be reminded to make additions and changes as they write. |

|Develop your topic sentence [pic] |

|Add supporting details |

|Reject arguments & |

|End with a conclusion. |
