Explanatory Essay BEFORE YOU UPLOAD please follow the directions on this document Directions: Please TYPE your essay in its entirety before moving on. Make sure the following is in your paper and correct:With each quote from “The Giver” should have Lowry and the page number after the quote with parenthesis around it. For example: (Lowry 36)EVERY sentence should end with some type of punctuation. PLEASE DO NOT give me an entire essay without any punctuation. Your entire paper should be double spaced and in Times New Roman 12 point font. Your title should be the SAME SIZE as the rest of your paper. It should give me some insight about what you are discussing your paper. Example: Elizabethan Era Witchcraft: How Shakespeare used fearThe DATE should be the date the essay is due. For example: 11 December 2018Your name should not be entirely in caps. The first letter of your first name is the only letter capitalized in your first name. The first letter of your last name is the only letter capitalized in your last name. Example: Miranda EavesMake sure EVERY paragraph is indented (use the “Tab” button to create the indention) Explanatory Essay Highlighting:Directions: After you have typed your essay and made sure that your essay follows the directions listed above, please make sure the following are highlighted on your essay. There is a button at the top (when you hover your mouse over it, it says “Text Highlight Color”) to choose the highlight. It is important that you are able to pick these things out. If you can’t pick them out in your own essay how am I able to pick them out when I am grading? I WILL NOT GRADE YOUR ESSAY UNLESS YOUR HIGHLIGHTS ARE COMPLETE. Highlight your thesis in green (***REMEMBER!!!! This should only be ONE sentence)Highlight your topic sentences in yellowHighlight your specific evidence (quotes) in pinkHighlight your commentary in light blueEvaluate yourself in a separate document to upload: (You are basically going to tell me the grade you deserve) How well does the thesis follow the formula you were given?How well do your topic sentences support what is being discussed in the paragraph?Do you have enough (at least 2 per paragraph) evidence?Do you have enough (at least 2 per paragraph) commentary?How well does your commentary explain how your evidence relates to the topic?Look at the rubric in the springboard book. Grade yourself for each of the three sections: Make sure that if you are going to rate yourself as a “4” and you have indeed met ALL of the requirements that is needed to be a “4”.
