Week 2 – 4th Grade Complementary Color Starburst LetterOverview:? You will use a pair of complementary colors to color in a starburst design of an uppercase letter.Estimated Time: 25 minutes, or more if you like Materials that are Needed: Paper, pencil, eraser, a straight edge or ruler (optional), any coloring tools you have including, but not limited to crayons, colored pencils, markers.Things to know: Looking at the colors that are across from each other on the color wheel. These pairs of colors are called complementary colors. The three pairs are red/green, blue/orange and yellow/violet. You will be using one of these pairs. Idea Examples: Choose any uppercase letter you want for this project– it can be one of your initials or any other letter you’d like to draw. Tasks: Draw a large block letter or bubble letter on your paper. Erase any stray pencil marks. Choose your pair of complementary colors.Outline the letter with the first color. Put a dot somewhere in the middle of the page.From the center dot, draw 12 or 14 (even number) lines to the edges of the paper. You may use a ruler for this if you wish.Color every other stripe on the OUTSIDE of the letter with the first color.Color the opposite stripes INSIDE the letter. If there is another space, color the opposite stripes.
