Canada’s Trade Partners: Research Report on Canada’s Trade Partners

If you are considering conducting business at the international level, it is important to understand specific facts about Canadian trade. Who are Canada's main trading partners? What products or services are exchanged? Assume you are going to conduct a business meeting with a potential international trading partner. What language would be spoken? How would you greet someone from that country?

Individually or in partners (partners to be okayed by me and each partner must do equal work) select a Canadian trading partner and research specific facts about the country. Select a country, and then sign up with me. To select a country:

1. Visit the Ontario Economic Development website (a) and Wikipedia (b) and check out Canada’s top trading partners for both import and export markets a)

2. a), click on the “Source Country of Investment” tab. Choose a country and MAKE SURE THE COUNTRY HAS AT LEAST TWO BUSINESSES IN CANADA before you sign up.

2. Select a country you wish to study and prepare a research report. You can access recent facts and statistics about your country by visiting the CIA World Fact Book () on the Central Intelligence Agency’s website and selecting your country by name. You may also have to use the Country’s home page (Google: country+business) to find business cultural information. Include the following sub-headings and information in your research report:

____ e) flag

____ f) language(s) spoken

____ g) religion

____ h) currency – to give the Canadian value (2 marks)

____ k) main exports (2 marks)

____ l) main imports (2 marks)

____ m) customs for greetings and gestures

____ n) significant cultural information/ recent events (2 marks)

____ o) List and describe and trade agreements between the two countries (2 marks)

____ o) name and describe two businesses that this country is involved in in
