I learned to refocus my teaching from what my students and I were doing, to what my students were learning and why. I know firsthand what is required in this process and I think YOU have what it takes to pursue National Board Certification. Now is the time to apply to become a candidate for next year! Achieving National Board Certification:Only avenue to an Illinois Master Teacher Designation.Prepares you for the Illinois Performance Evaluation.Fulfills continuing professional development requirements for 5 pleting the NB process fulfills state requirements to renew your Illinois teaching certificate. Go to to learn more about the certificate areas and standards available.The State of Illinois will pay $1,900 which will cover the cost of all four components. All you need to do is pay the $75 annual application fee. The NBPTS certification process takes from one to three years to complete. Candidates in Illinois will complete only Components 2 and 4 during the 2018-2019 cycle.
