Materials needed for class: 3 Ring Binder, Loose Leaf paper, a writing instrument

During each unit, students will be expected to participate in discussion and activities, react to articles, complete in class and out of class assignments, and prepare for various assessments (projects, research, debates, tests, etc).

Grading

• Exams: Students will take an exam at the end of each unit of study. The exams will consist of multiple choice and constructed response questions.

• Weekly Quizzes: Students will take quizzes periodically to check for student understanding of material.

• Class Participation: Students are required to participate in class discussions, take notes, and pay attention. You are not to talk while others are talking. This is rude and disrespectful and will not be tolerated. You will lose class participation points for not participating in class. Also, sleeping during video segments is not permitted.

• Homework/Classwork: You will be required to do homework. When homework is assigned, you will be required to turn in the assignment the next day unless told otherwise. If you do not turn in your homework on time, it will not be accepted late. Late work is not accepted unless you have an excused absence. Field trip, class trips, or other types of trips are not excuses.

Bell Ringers

Students will be required to do bell ringers as they enter class. These will be taken up on a daily basis. Students will receive credit for turning them in.

Make Up Work

Students who are absent are required to see Mrs. Hollon to get their make up work. Work will also be posted on the website. If a student does not make up his or her work within three days of an absence, they will not be able to make up the work after the time has passed.

Make Up Tests

Students will be required to stay after school to make up any tests he or she misses. Students are not allowed to make up tests during class time. Arrangements must be made to stay after school to make up a test.

Final Exam

Each student will be required to take the final exam. The final exam will consist of all units of study in each trimester.

Readings

Students will be required to a novel chosen by Mrs. Hollon. This is a requirement.

Behavior Expectations

All students are expected to abide by Mrs. Hollon’s behavior expectations. If a student does not abide by these expectations, there will be consequences.

-Behavioral Expectations

1) Students are expected to be on time and prepared for class.

2) Students will not be allowed to leave to get materials for class once the bell has rang.

3) Students are expected to be respectful to other students and to all teachers, administrators, and support staff.

4) Students are to remain in their assigned seat until the bell rings for class to end. NO ONE will wait by the door for the bell to ring.

5) Students will be expected to participate in class. This means not sleeping, working on other homework for other classes, talking to others, reading materials not related to Psychology, or other behaviors.

-Consequences

1) Student will receive a verbal warning.

2) Parents will be contacted via email or phone.

3) A referral to the office and parents will be contact via email or phone.
