|PURPOSE |

1- To ensure that all rooms used for surgery are appropriately cleaned.

|RESPONSIBILITY |

2.1- Technical staff.

|PROCEDURES |

1- Following a surgery:

a. Clean the room, i.e. counters, tables, push-cart, floors and anything else contaminated by that specific use with Quatricide® (57ml per liter of water).

b. Clean all instruments with Klenzyme® (active ingredient: 7-13% triethanolamine, 1% proteolytic enzymes, 1-5% sodium tetraborate) lay out to dry and return them to their proper place.

c. Put away any equipment, drugs and other materials that are sitting out in the room.

d. Turn valve to “OFF” on all gas cylinders.

e. Turn off all lights and make sure all doors are closed and locked.

2- On a weekly basis:

a. Wipe down counters, surgery tables, anesthetic machine, equipment and any other materials sitting out in the room with a commercial disinfectant such as Hertel®.

b. Clean surgical lights. Do not forget to clean the top of the shade.

c. Clean walls and light fixtures.

d. Clean and disinfect scrub sinks.

e. Sweep and wash floors using Quatricide® (57ml per liter of water).

f. Collect and dispose of all garbage and replace with new garbage bag.

g. Sweep down any cobweb which is present at ceiling and baseboard

3- On a monthly basis (or as needed):

a. Remove yellow (Biohazard) containers when full and replace with new ones.

b. Notify Animal Technician of any supplies such as syringes, needles, surgical disposables which need restocking.

c. Clean, with Windex®, glass windows of the lab and operating room.
