Insight Review

As I review my notes from this Catalyst event, what insights have I gained and what lessons have I learned about myself and how I hope to live in the world?

In what ways am I living a healthy, self-differentiated life (fully myself while still connected in community)? In what ways do I exhibit or get drawn into unhealthy relationship practices?

How does my real self compare with the ideal self God (and I) wants me to be? What are my strengths and challenges in the 4 Domains of Emotional Intelligence (self-

awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management)? In what ways do I view and act on diverse perspectives as strength? In what ways does diversity

threaten or inhibit me? What do I know now (or have I relearned) about dealing with triangulation? How does the modelof Jesus as a fully self-differentiated human being help me understand

myself and others better?

Individual Learning Agenda

Transformational learning requires clear identification of manageable, achievable goals, set for myself, which build on strengths and help narrow gaps in development. My plan for learning needs to be flexible and to provide reinforcement through practice in a variety of settings. It needs to include processes for development, evaluation, and accountability that require feedback, support, and input from other people.

A. What do I need to work on, what skills or traits do I need to develop to bring attunement to my life and in the way I lead within the body of Christ? How can I build on my strengths while reducing my gaps?

B. What will I do within the next 36 hours to begin my learning process?

C. What is at least one way that I will experiment with and practice new behaviors, thoughts, and feelings to the point of mastery in my work/church life and my home/family life?

D. Who will I share what I am learning and planning with? What trusting relationships will I develop or call upon to help support and encourage each step in the process of moving from my real self toward my ideal self? What relationships challenge me to be a better person, a more loving Christian, a more faithful disciple?

E. How will I know I have made progress in my learning agenda? What is my plan for holding myself accountable and evaluating my progress?

Group Learning Agenda

Groups also need to be intentional in planning for transformational learning. Again, this requires clear identification of manageable, achievable goals, set by the group, which build on individual and collective strengths and help narrow gaps in development. The group plan for learning needs to be flexible and to provide reinforcement through practice together. It needs to include processes for development, evaluation, and accountability that require feedback, support, and input from group members and from others who are affected by or direct the work of the group.

1. Schedule a follow-up meeting of your team and invite other leaders in your congregation. Plan for the ways you will be Catalysts for building healthy relationships and group processes within your congregation.

2. Review the Resource List together and choose a resource for group study.

3. Decide how will your team employ the Catalyst tools we have used or discussed. What groups will benefit from using or learning these tools? What one tool has the most potential for positive learning in your congregational setting?

4. Remember to build in steps for accountability and evaluation. What will be the evidence that your congregation (including you) has moved toward more collaborative leadership, clearer communication, and a healthier environment for ministry? How will you identify that evidence?
