FOURTH BOLLENBACH SYMPOSIUM

5 AND 6 AUGUST 2004

FIELD TOUR ON 5 AUGUST

Meet at High Plains Technology Center at 8:00 a.m. for registration and refreshments. Buses leave at 9:00 a.m. and return at roughly 2:00 p.m. Tour bobwhite and lesser prairie-chicken habitat and habitat management on the Agricultural Research Service’s Southern Plains Experimental Range north of Fort Supply. Lunch under the cottonwoods on Selman Ranch. Topics include management and identification of plants and plant communities important to bobwhites and lesser prairie-chickens, nest cover management, lesser prairie-chicken management initiatives, and history of the Selman Ranch.

5 August: Field tour on Southern Plains Experimental Range with lunch on Selman Ranch. Discussion of key plants in lesser prairie-chicken, bobwhite, and cattle management and how important plants respond to grazing and burning. History of the Selman Ranch. No-host social and book-signing at Northwest Inn 5–7 p.m.

6 August: Symposium on various aspects of bobwhite ecology and management: bird-dog behavior, habitat management, foods, predators, harvest management, lease evaluation, conservation development.
