Predictive Services Discussion: Upper-level troughing is forecast over the Plains with upper-level ridging over both the east and west coasts. A slow-moving cold front will stretch from the eastern Great Lakes through the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys, and into the northwestern Gulf Coast. Gusty north to northeast offshore winds are expected across the Transverse Ranges in southern California today and tonight with low relative humidity and poor overnight recovery. Gusty westerly winds are likely across Montana and Wyoming with brisk north to northwest winds forecast across the Plains. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast near the cold front from the Mid-Mississippi Valley to the Appalachians north to the eastern Great Lakes. Showers will continue across much of western Washington with a few showers possible across northern Washington as well.
