Commentary

Pupil 3 builds on the suggestion put forward by pupil 2 and provides reasons. All of the learners use the formal question ‘do you agree?’ as a tool to include all members of the group and to keep the discussion flowing.

Throughout the discussion, pupil 1 ensures that all participants are actively engaged and their contributions valued. Disagreement is used positively to refine ideas, and there is evidence of prior knowledge being deployed as justification for the group’s arguments and decisions.
