Aristotle might have spared his readers some confusion had he written ‘the starting point’ (i.e. tØn érxØn), but Greek often omits the article in phrases containing a preposition (Smyth, Sec. 1128 compares Demosthenes 37.23 §n érxª toË lÒgou and translates ‘in the beginning of the speech’.) ................
