“The grading policy for this course is required to adhere to the guidelines articulated in the Leon M. Goldstein High School 2019-2020 Schoolwide Grading Policy – this document and all other school-related policies can be found at the website below and it is your responsibility to read and fully understand this policy as well as all other school-related policies:

PROCEDURES UPON ENTERING THE CLASSROOM

• You are expected to be on time to class.

• Always be prepared with functioning pens (blue or black), pencils and a notebook.

• Open your notebook and be prepared to work.

• On exam day, you MUST have both a #2 pencil and a pen.

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR

• Raise your hand if you have a question or an answer. Wait to be called upon before speaking.

• Please respect your teachers and classmates.

• Headphones, videogames, cell phones and any other electronic devices are not allowed.

REQUIREMENTS

• 8 ½ X 11 in. loose-leaf notebook or same sized spiral bound notebook.

• Bring your notebook everyday with a section for Science notes.

• Keep an extra folder for handouts and homework.

CLASSWORK/HOMEWORK/EXAMS

• Be an active participant in the day’s lesson. This includes responding to questions, asking questions and taking notes in class.

• Review your class notes daily.

• Do not wait for exams to start studying.

• Homework should be written or typed. Make up any assignments when you are absent by the day after you return.

• There will be a minimum of two exams for each marking period.

LAB WORK

Lab is MANDATORY. Lab is not an extra class or an extra period but part of the class. If you fail lab then you are ineligible to take the Regents exam. You need to pass the Regents Examination to graduate. If you are absent then speak to your lab instructor as soon as possible.

GRADING POLICY:

Tests, quizzes, projects 60%

Lab 20%

Classwork 10%

Homework 10%
