2004 Election Calendar

2004 Election Calendar

Note: The Democratic nominee will be determined by 4,317 delegate votes. A simple majority (2,159) is needed to win. State primaries and caucuses determine how the 3,520 “pledged delegates” vote (the number of delegates allotted to each state is listed below in parentheses). The remaining 797 “unpledged” delegates (or “superdelegates”) are party leaders and elected officials. They may vote for whomever they please. The nominee is officially declared at the Democratic party’s convention in Boston, July 26-29, 2004.
