Asian cultural performances of music, dance, Taiko Drums, Lion Dance, martial arts demonstration and traditional food for the entire family.

The Harvest Moon Festival, the eighth full moon of the year is celebrated throughout Asia as a symbol of fullness and fruition. This tradition will be continued on Saturday, September 10 at the Asian American Cultural Center. We will serve the traditional Mooncake for the occasion.

Sixteen years ago, with the commitment of 19 investors, Asian Americans found themselves a HOME, the Asian American Cultural Center (AACC). Inside the home, we now have:

1. The Magic Dragon, a Texas Rising Star Multicultural Early Childhood Development Center, Afterschool Program and Cultural Camps.

2. Cultural classes on Asian dances, martial arts, calligraphy and brush painting.

3. Asian language classes, ESL and Citizenship classes for senior citizens.

4. To achieve our mission to provide the facilities, expertise and unique space for the sharing of culture between the East and the West in the American Experience, we

a. Host and organize the Young Musician Festival and Competition every two years in the past fifteen years. Some of the grand prize winners are pursuing their dreams at The Juilliard School.

b. Host and organize the annual Lunar New Year celebration and Harvest Moon Festival at the Asian American Cultural Center.

c. Organize the annual Dragon Boat Festival & Race at Lady Bird Lake on the last Saturday and Sunday of each April. Next year we will celebrate the 19th Annual Dragon Boat event for two days, April 29 &30, 2017.

d. Organize the Austin Asian Occasion (AAO) to celebrate the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month on the last Saturday in May; this is a multicultural performing arts show and a fundraiser to support the mission of a local nonprofit organization each year. Meals on Wheels, Ronald McDonald House, People’s Community Clinic, KLRU, Texas School for the Deaf, UT Music School, Power to Parkinsons and Any Baby Can were the beneficiaries in the previous years.

On Saturday, September 10, please come join us to celebrate and harvest the wonders and fullness of the community spirit. Please view the schedule of the program on our website:
