How Did I Post a PowerPoint on the Web so that it can be Viewed as an html Document?

After a PowerPoint is created, go to the File pulldown menu at the top left corner of the window. When the pulldown menu appears, move down to the Save As a Web Page button and click on the button. The following window will appear.

Click on the Web site files folder. It’s located on the desktop. Name the file, and make sure that the extension of the file is either .htm or .html. Then, click on the Save button.

Once the file is saved, use Fetch to transfer the file and the folder that was automatically saved to your html folder. To do this it’s best to open Fetch as described in How To #2. Once Fetch is open, it is easiest if you then open the Finder by double clicking on the finder icon (it looks like a smiley face) on the dock. Move the finder window so that it is next to the Fetch window. Your screen should look similar to the image seen on the top of page 2

Notice that there is the file is saved, testppt.htm and also another folder above it named testppt_files. Both of these folders must be dragged and dropped into the mail.sas html folder using Fetch. If the file and folder have been successfully uploaded, they will appear in the html folder window in Fetch.

After the file and folder are both transferred to Fetch, you can now create a link from a webpage to the testppt.htm file. This will open the PowerPoint as a webpage. Viewers can see this file even if they don’t have PowerPoint installed on their computer. My Chem 502 page has a link a sample website.

Go here to see it or go to to view it.

How Did I Post a PowerPoint on the Web so that it can be Downloaded?

After your PowerPoint is constructed, save it to the Web Site Files folders as a regular PowerPoint file. The file extension you should use for this is .ppt. Then use Fetch to move that file to your html folder on the mail.sas server. Once it has been moved there, you can make a link on a webpage to that file. You can go to my Chem 502 () webpage to see a link to my test PowerPoint.
