WHAT'S COOKING?

Jo Vaughan showcases pot and pan sets ideal for the caravan or motorhome

1. Kampa Gastro Non-Stick Family Cookset

This is a comprehensive cook

set that not only has a frying pan but also an egg poacher and kettle, as well as lids for

ALCLOBVAESREESD

two saucepans which have

2.2-litre and 1.6-litre capacities.

The Kampa website states

that it would be `ideal for families or

groups', but I think it's stretching it a bit

in regard to the latter. The items sit inside

one another before sliding into a breathable storage bag ? and all have their own folding cool-touch handles.

4. Gelert Anodised Aluminium Cookset

This set comes in a net bag which

has a strap on it to keep the pans in situ. This is the only set here that isn't non-stick, but you do

CGAOPOADCITY

get a 1-litre kettle as well as three

large saucepans (1.5 litres, 2 litres and 3

litres) that could cater for a family of four with

ease. The 22cm frying pan has a ridged base

for good heat distribution and doubles as a

lid for the 3-litre pan. A single universal

handle is supplied for use with all the pans.

2. Highlander 5-6 Person Non-Stick Cookset

Here we have three pans

(1 litre, 1.8 litres and 2.8

litres) and a 20cm x 5cm frying pan. Each pan has a lid with a good-sized knob

QUAFLEIETLY

on top as well as two-piece,

plastic-coated handles that wrap

around for storage. This sturdy set has a

quality feel (it is the only one that has a

shaped, zipped bag). It may seem pricey but

I managed to find it at a lower cost by

shopping around online.

RRP: ?45.99 Stored size (w x h): 21.5cm x 15cm Number of pieces: 6 Material: aluminium Contact: 01506 438438;

3. Outwell Cuisine

Cook Set L

This is almost identical to the first camping pan set I

GOFAOMD IFLOIERS

ever bought so I can vouch for

its practicality. It has excellent

capacity, offering three pots (1 litre, 1.5 litres

and 3 litres) and three frying pans (16.5cm,

19cm and 22cm) that also act as lids for the

saucepans. The pans are finished in royal

blue and boast a non-stick interior ? but you

only have one handle that slots into each.

This set would realistically cater for a family,

and for couples a smaller `M' version is also

available. These may seem expensive but

there are good deals on the web.

5. Vango Non-Stick Steel Cook Kit

Here, we have a four-person, non-stick option that is made from steel; consequently it

STSUTREDEYL

feels a little sturdier than the

aluminium sets. You get 1.4-litre and

1.8-litre pots (both with lids), an 18cm frying

pan and four plastic cups, as well as a handy

carry-bag. The pans all have two-piece

handles that wrap around them when not

being used ? although these do tend to flap

around a bit when nesting (a common issue

with handles of this design).

6. Gelert Ascent III Cookset

This anodised aluminium cook

set is tiny ? perfect if you're short of space. It comes in a breathable, toggled bag and each of the three pots has a

EASSTYOTROE

folding handle. Capacity is

limited ? the pots hold 0.9 litres, 0.35 litres

and 0.25 litres. Although recommended for

one or two, I think you'd struggle to cater for

a couple unless you were on very mean

rations. The pots are scratch-resistant and

the largest has a well-fitting lid. Note that

there is no frying pan supplied.
