Brush Chipping Service : The Need-to-Know

There Are 3 Options for Handling Residential Brush:

? Take brush to the Transfer Station on Foltz Parkway

(Drive located on east side of the railroad tracks).

? Bundle branches in 4 ft. lengths (no more than 35 lbs/bundle)

Leave out for Republic Waste on a normal trash day.

? Call the City Service Department after the branches are out on the curb for pick-up request.

Please allow up to a week for service. If demand is great, a delay in service may occur.

Guidelines for Service Department Pick-Up

*Normal Residential Brush Only, no land clearing.

(If you hire a contractor, the contractor is responsible for the removal of the brush. If these guidelines are not followed, the City has the right to refuse pick-up.)

? City will only pick up at curb (do not obstruct sidewalk or street) ? Place all cut ends in one direction ? Keep stack pile as neat as possible (branches only, no steel or metal debris) ? Branches up to 6 inches in diameter ? Branches must be longer than 4 ft. in length

Brush Chipping Service is ONLY available from March to September.

The good news is most product packaging and paper can be recycled in your home. Cut your trash in half when you combine paper, cans, cartons, glass and plastic bottles in your curbside recycling.

Check out our helpful guide below or visit or call 440-580-3124. The Strongsville Transfer Station is located behind the 16099 Foltz Parkway (driveway along the railroad tracks). Hours: Monday-Friday 7am - 5pm, Saturday 8am - 2pm & Sunday 12pm - 5pm; 440-572-7590.

WHAT TO INCLUDE CURBSIDE:

Be sure to empty and rinse cans and bottles, replacing cap when necessary and flatten cardboard.

All of these can be placed in ONE blue bag. Set out RECYCLING on the opposite side of the driveway from the trash. If your recycling was not picked up or if you are having difficulty with Recycling pick-up, please contact Republic Waste at 440-572-7590. If you notice that a drop-off container is full, please contact us. No construction materials accepted on Sundays.

OTHER RECYCLING:

It's important to recycle correctly. Some items don't belong in your curbside recycling. Many items can be recycled, reused or donated elsewhere.

Shredded paper can make a mess if left curbside. Please place in a tied bag and drop in the River Valley Paper Recycling Bins (located at food bank, parks & fire stations).

WHAT NEEDS PROPER DISPOSAL:

Other items require special handling for proper disposal.

batteries

Primary/single-use alkaline batteries can be put in the regular trash. Rechargeable batteries can be recycled for free through local Call2Recycle drop boxes, found in the Apple Store, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe's, Sears Hardware & local hardware stores.

latex paint

Any paint that is LATEX (water clean-up) should be dried out (add kitty litter, sawdust etc.) and placed with your regular trash.

fluorescent bulbs

No longer accepted as Household Hazardous Waste Roundup. Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs are accepted at Home Depot, Lowes & Batteries+Bulbs for proper disposal.

medications

The Strongsville Police Department offers 24/7 dropoff for prescription drugs. Pour pills into Ziplock bag & place in dropbox in the Police Station Lobby.

needles

Place needles in a SHARPS container or heavy duty bottle (i.e. detergent) & mark SHARPS. Take container to the Strongsville Transfer Station for proper safe disposal.
