In School Suspension (ISS) Rules Assignment
ALL DAY OR MULTIPLE PERIODS ISS - Before completing any other assignment, copy/write each of these rules (numbered 1-8); neatly and legibly using your own paper or the paper provided for you. Skip a line between each rule. Be sure to follow rule # 4 for this and all other assignments. Answer questions 9 and 10 below the rules on your paper.
1. ALL CELL PHONES are to be turned off AND given to the ISS teacher upon entering the room.
2. Be in your seat and ready to begin class at the beginning of the day or the period you are assigned ISS. Remain in your seat at all times sitting up straight, keeping feet and chair on the floor, and facing forward with your hands to yourself.
3. You must be working on an assignment at all times. You may use a computer to complete an assignment if instructed to do so by your teacher. Inappropriate use of the computer will result in immediate disciplinary action. All assignments must be completed by the end of the day. Once your assignments have been completed, or if you have no assignments, raise your hand so that work can be provided for you by the ISS teacher. You may also read a book or magazine. You will not be able to use the computer to pass the time. You may not sleep under any circumstances.
4. All assignments require a complete heading. This includes your name, date, teacher’s name, subject, and class period. All assignments must be completed by following the directions given. You will complete all assignments to the best of your ability. All completed work will be turned in to your teacher at the end of the day by the ISS teacher.
5. Raise your hand to ask a question, get help with an assignment, or when an assignment has been completed. Sleeping, eating, drinking, talking, making noises, communicating with other students, distracting other students and/or teachers, personal grooming which includes combing your hair or applying makeup, and/or moving, writing on, or damaging your study carrel is strictly forbidden.
6. NO ELECTRONICS of any kind (CD/tape/MP3 players, I-pods, radios, computers, pagers, beepers, hand held games, etc) are allowed in the ISS room. No food or drinks, including water, are allowed in the ISS room. ALL OF THOSE ITEMS WILL BE TAKEN ON SIGHT.
7. Instructions and /or directions from the ISS teacher will be followed at ALL times.
8. You will be dismissed from school after the teacher has inspected your area for cleanliness, all trash and debris has been picked up, and your chair has been pushed in.
9. In a paragraph or two (minimum 4-5 sentences), discuss what YOU did to receive the consequence of In School Suspension today. Be as specific as possible.
10. Which behavior(s) can you improve so that you can avoid the consequence of In School Suspension in the future?
STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE NOT TO FOLLOW ISS RULES ARE SUBJECT TO FURTHER DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS.
