Go to and set up a free account. Either create a storyboard and/or transcript for your video, or go directly into creating a PowToon video. Log in and choose one of the options to create a new PowToon.If you created a storyboard, you can create your story scene by scene.If you are diving in, choose the middle option to customize a template.I do not recommend starting from scratch for your first video.If you choose to build your story scene by scene, choose a look for your video (maybe professional to start with). Add at least four scenes to your video. Important Tip: When selecting scenes make sure you only choose scenes that are free (no Biz Plan or Pro Plan scenes). If a scene is labeled Biz or Pro, make sure you choose a different scene to replace it.If you choose to start with a template, select the template you want to work with (make sure it is not a pro plan template). You can preview or use the template. You can change individual scenes if desired, when ready, click “Continue” to personalize the scenes.For both types of PowToon, you should now be on the editing screen. Go through each scene and change some of the text, characters, or images and see what your PowToon looks like by pressing “Preview.” Then you can save your video at the top of the page if you like it.Try to import an image or YouTube video into your PowToon video. This could include a picture of your library or a screenshot of a database, etc.If you want, you can click “Sound” in the right toolbar and add a new sound track or a voiceover. You can record the voiceover if you have a microphone.Make sure you name your video (click Untitled and enter in a new name) and “Save” your video project.Once you are happy with your video, click “Export” and you can upload it to YouTube or Vimeo, or download it as a Powerpoint or PDF. Please share the video at #hats4libraries and/or the Padlet page at . If there is time, try to create another PowToon from scratch. Feel free to create a storyboard and/or transcript first. You could create a video to explain Boolean connectors or market a new library database or service. Try to create something that you can use in your library. First, go to and create a free account. Log in and click “Get Started” or “Create a video” in the upper right.On the left, under plans, select “Free.” You can Preview a template by hovering over it and clicking “Preview” and playing the video. Choose a template to use.Go through each scene and edit the text, characters, and images as you see fit. Make sure to choose the free options (white boxes) rather than the paid options (greenish blue boxes). To preview your video, click the play button in the bottom left corner.If you want, you can click the musical note in the right toolbar and add a new sound track or sound effect. You can also click the screen effects button on the right toolbar and add an effect.Click on uploads to upload an image, mp3 file, or voiceover. You can also record a voiceover now if you have a microphone (built-in or external).Try to upload an image into your Animaker video. This could include a picture of your library or a screenshot of a database, etc. You will need to choose a category for the image, such as characters, properties, or backgrounds before uploading it. Make sure you name your video (click untitled project and enter in a new name) and “Save” your video project.Once you are happy with your video, click the settings cog and click “Export” and you can upload it to YouTube or Facebook. It can take a little while to upload to YouTube, but is usually completed in 30 minutes or less.Please share the video at #hats4libraries and/or the Padlet page at . Bonus ChallengeIf you complete the challenges you are interested in and want an additional challenge, explore the following websites and see if there are other technology tools that you might want to learn more about. Start with the Edtech Teacher site and look up apps by learning activity. to and set up a free account. Log in and select “Quiz” under Create a new kahoot.Give your quiz a title and description. Select the settings, including Visible to (Only me is private & Everyone is public), Audience, and a cover image and Intro video if desired. Click “Ok go” in the upper right corner.Create a 4-8 question Kahoot Quiz by clicking “Add Question” and entering the question text, answers, and selecting the correct answer by clicking the check mark. Click “Next” between each question and “Save” when you are done.Try embedding a YouTube video into one or more of your questions.Try it out by selecting “Preview it.” Choose Classic mode and select “Game options” for the preview and try it out with the smart phone picture. After testing it, go back to the quiz tab and click “I’m Done.”Go to and set up a free account. Log in and look at one of the featured Quizizz to get some ideas for what to include in a quiz. When you are ready, click “Create your own quiz” in the upper right or click “Create” in the top middle menu.Add a quiz image if you desire and a quiz name. If you want it to be private, select private. If you want to view a tutorial, click “Tutorial” in the upper right side of the page. Or if you are ready, you can dive right in and create your first question.Add your first question with answer options and select the correct answer. On the left side of the page, click “New Question” to add another question. Add however many questions you want before clicking “Finish” in the upper right corner. Select the appropriate grade level (for adults, select University to University), subject (likely professional development or other), if topic appears- select a topic, and tags if desired.Click “Finish and create quiz.”Click “Homework” and choose a due date, then click “Proceed” after choosing question settings.In a new window or tab, go to join. and enter the game code (six numbers), enter a name, and join the game. You can now trial your quiz from a student viewpoint. After completing the quiz from the student view, you can go back to your account page and explore the “My Reports” tab if desired.Go to and set up a free account, or you can try it out first without creating an account by creating a wall by clicking “Make a Padlet.”Click “settings” on the upper right side of the page if the box is not open already (or if you clicked away from the box). Name your wall under “Title” and add a “Description.” Choose the layout and wallpaper (background). Click the slide bar by “Comments” under “Posting” to allow comments. Choose a user friendly URL. Click “Next” in the upper right corner and select privacy settings and click “Next” again. Then click the “Start Posting” button. Try adding multiple posts to your wall by double clicking the screen or click “Add.” Then choose a title and add text in the box that appears.Try to upload an image and/or video. Try linking to a website within a post. Under the …, you can share and embed or export your wall. You can also print the wall, save it as an image or PDF or Excel spreadsheet.Tweet a link to your Padlet wall at #hats4libraries if you want to share it with other librarians and/or the Padlet page at to and create a free account. Then login and view your dashboard. Click on “Create a new canvas” under My Canvases.Type in a Name for your canvas and choose a background or upload an image to use as a background. Choose the privacy settings and details. Then click “Create a canvas.”In the upper right toolbox, click and drag a sticky note to the canvas. Type in the text box for the sticky and choose a tag if you desire as well as a font size and font color. You can also choose an icon, due date, and sticky note color as well as making the sticky private. You can also send the sticky to an email address if desired. When your sticky is complete, click “Post.”Try to add an image and video to your canvas by clicking and dragging the corresponding icon to the canvas. Note: Before adding an image, you will need to have it saved to be able to browse and choose a file to upload. For the video, you will need to have the URL to a YouTube, Vimeo, or Ustream video to post.You can also peel off (delete) a sticky with the check mark in the bottom right corner of the sticky.Tweet a link to your Lino It at #hats4libraries if you want to share it with other librarians and/or the Padlet page at . ................
