Personality Quiz Write-Ups

The Big Five:

The results of the Big Five personality quiz made me realize quite a few things. First of all, I thought that I was very open to new experiences and intellect, but apparently not as open as I had imagined. The other results simply confirmed what I had already known to be true about myself; I am extremely organized and reliable, rather introverted, generally relaxed, and not too forgiving or unforgiving. It helps to reestablish and confirm my beliefs through different forms of personality tests in order to acquire accurate self-awareness. This test helped to reinforce my beliefs in regards to conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism and helped me to learn more about my openness.

Learning Styles Chart (Rose):

Through the learning styles chart I discovered that I learn better visually. This helps me to know that I should/need to write things down in order to process them better. This will help with my studying methods as well as my intake of information when given to me through lecture or just everyday information. It helps to write things down for me because I process the information more efficiently to see the information as opposed to just hearing it or doing the activity. Knowing my learning style will help in all aspects of my life including work and school.

VARK Learning Styles:

According to the VARK learning style rubric, I am more of a read/write learner. When reading about the qualities or methods of a read/writer, I identified with many of them. I learned that making lists, including headings, definitions, verbatim notes, and teachers who use words well and provide lots of information are best for my intake of material. I also learned helpful study tactics such as writing words over and over, reading notes repeatedly, rewriting ideas in different words, and the organization of diagrams and graphs into statements. In addition to methods of taking in information and studying, I learned how to recall the information by writing out exam answers, writing lists, and arranging words into hierarchies and points. These are all useful ways of processing information that I can utilize in all sects of life.

JType Test Results:

I learned more from the results of this test than any other. I learned that my type is INFJ: Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging. I learned that the ideal career for me to pursue would be counseling, public service, politics, or writing. I am glad that I learned this because I am pursuing a degree in psychology and I want to be sure that I find a field that I am compatible with and satisfied in. The results also helped to put into words a lot of feelings or ideas that I thought about myself. It confirmed that friendships to me are “a symbiotic bond that transcends mere words” (Joe Butt). It helps to hear this because often I believe that I take friendship too seriously compared to others but it is a relief to know that is a personality trait of mine and many other people probably hold friendship in such high regard as I do. Also, it explains that I think in a very introverted manner, and that often leads people to believe that I am aloof and distant. To bring to my attention that it is actually my deep thought that leads people to perceive me in this way helps to restore a better self-image that was somewhat depleted when I received my results for the interactive Nohari window. Lastly, I learned that as an IFNJ I might fall prey to various forms of immediate gratification while under stress. If nothing else, I can use this to explain this to my boyfriend when he asks why I smoke if I’m angry or stressed out. I never have an explanation; I don’t know why I crave instant gratification, but I know now. This information also helps me to realize how different others are than me, and how I can use this during disagreements with others or even in my perception of them.

Johari Window:

The results I received from this quiz affected me almost as much as the JType quiz did. I learned not only what others thought of me, but what they agreed with me upon. I found that out of the six characteristics that I thought of myself, five of them were matched with others. I believe that is very good to know. I think that it is so important that my perception of myself is the same or very similar to others’ perceptions of me.
