General Manager Profile: Stock Farm Club Hamilton, MT

Stock Farm Club is a beautiful, private, golf-based community near Hamilton, Montana, in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley. Stock Farm is an extraordinary place that has grown into a mature retreat over the past 10 years. Along with the Tom Fazio championship golf course the club features 94 home sites; 24 cabins; an Equestrian Center; a Swim, Tennis & Fitness Center; an Event Lawn; Sporting Clay; 3D Archery and Fly Fishing and Skeet shooting. Founding members Charles Schwab and Jim Schueler recognized this Valley as a treasure. They envisioned a 2,600-acre retreat that would be home to people who would preserve the land while creating lasting legacies. Members now live that legacy every day. They have watched as this place has grown up strong and steady. And each day they enjoy rich amenities like the Stock Farm Club Montana Clubhouse Lodge. Its inviting log construction offers 27,000 intimate square feet and is as simple and grand as any historic national park lodge. The Stock Farm is a community that understands the sense of renewal that being in Big Sky Country can bring. It's a community that appreciates the value of privacy and understated elegance. They are a private club, but one full of vitality and shared values and aspirations that will eventually validate every members inclusion there. The Club is easily accessible from the Missoula airport which is an hour North of the Club and a ten minute flight on Net Jets to the local airport in Hamilton. The Club has recently transitioned from owner/developer to member owned. GOLF COURSE The centerpiece of The Stock Farm Club, and the source of unending pride for

General Manager Profile: Stock Farm Club its members, is their championship golf course. Created by Tom Fazio, the 7,000-yard masterpiece consistently appears on any list of the world's premier club courses. This is a course that all members enjoy playing, no matter what skill level. The mild Bitterroot climate means golf seasons typically extend from end of March through late November, giving those interested in honing their game the chance for extended play.

Immersed in Nature

When a designer like Tom Fazio imagines a golf course in a place like Montana, he conjures a course from what the landscape offers. The Stock Farm Course, a place so beautiful hikers treasure it as much as golfers, blends technical challenges with natural awe.

The tee box on #3, a signature hole, sits across a ravine full of sagebrush, pine and native grasses. Golfers swing for a fairway that swells and rolls toward the green-but their target could be the massive Bitterroot Mountain range that serves as a backdrop.

This is a course one plays immersed in nature, not bending between condos. Enclosed by pine forest, the 18th fairway is so gorgeous it's hard for members to want to end their round.
