EU inaugurates Civil Registration/Vehicle Registration Building in Peja/Pec

Pristina, 3 October 2013

The new Civil and Vehicle Registration Centre building in Peja/Pec was inaugurated today by the EU Office in Kosovo and the Kosovo Civil Registration Agency. Three new Civil Registration and Vehicle Registration Centres in Kosovo have been built with EU funds for a total amount of €700,000. The new centres are built in Peja/ Pec, Rahovec/ Orahovac and Novo Berde/ Novobrdo.

The newly constructed buildings were part of the EU-funded project supporting the Civil Registration Agency.

The buildings will become ´one-stop-shop´ service locations that provide convenient, faster and better services to citizens. The new building in Peja/Pec provides services for Passport, ID card, Driver License application and Vehicle Registration at one location.

The construction of the two-floor Civil and Vehicle Registration Building in Peja/Pec of 620 m2 cost approximately € 285,000.

The EU Office Head of Cooperation, Christof Stock, inaugurated the building jointly with the Director of Civil Status Registration Department of the Civil Registration Agency, Blerim Camaj, and Sylë Muriqi, Head of the Civil Registration Office in Peja/Pec.

The inauguration of the new building followed after a children's run in Peja/Pec, as part of the campaign to raise public awareness for timely birth registration. The Birth Registration public awareness campaign was launched by the EU-funded project in Pristina in September 2013. Similar children's runs were organised lately in Prizren and Mitrovica.
