HEALTH

1. What is health? (brainstorming – write down your ideas)

2. Answer the questions: (then discuss with your partner/s)

• How often do you go to the doctor and why?

• How do you keep fit?

• How many hours do you usually sleep?

• How do you relax?

• When did you last have a cold/flu?

• Have you ever been to a hospital?

• Do you have any health problems?

• Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?

• Do you think you eat healthily?

• What do you do for your health?

3. Prepare 2 questions about health for your classmates and make a short survey:

4. Write a short summary – give advice what people should/shouldn´t do to be healthy

5. Speaking activity

Cut the paper into pieces (depending on the number of students/pairs). Each student will get a card (either with symptoms, or a health problem). Then they should tell each other their problems and try to find a partner to make correct pairs (illness + symptoms).

|TOOTHACHE |painkillers and make an appointment to your dentist |

| |You have a high temperature, your whole body aches. You are very |

|FLU |tired and sleepy. |

| |A ball hit your head on a football match yesterday. Now you feel |

|CONCUSSION |dizzy and sick and your head hurts. |

6. In pairs make a short conversation about a health problem on your card:

• Patient - tell your problems/symptoms, how long have you had it etc.

• Doctor – ask questions to find out the problem, say the diagnosis, give advice about the treatment, prescribe some medicine etc.
