The author S. Lewis Johnson was once quoted as saying that "the resurrection is God's Amen! To Christ's statement, "it is finished." The resurrection of Jesus is God's validation to the world that His Son had fully accomplished the work He sent Him to do.

And what was that work which Jesus came to do? One thing: in Jesus' own words, "to give His life as a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:28). Jesus' work at the cross was the greatest accomplishment in human history. It was at the cross that Jesus sacrificially took our place. It was at the cross that Jesus took our punishment so that we might receive God's mercy. For it was at the cross that "the Lord laid on Him iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6).

So when Jesus declared from the cross, "It is finished," He was signifying that His sacrificial work of redemption was complete. The penalty for sin for all people for all time was fully paid.

This is why the Bible tells us " there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). We are free to go. No penalty for us. Case dismissed. Jesus our Substitute stood in for us at the cross so that we could stand with Him in heaven. Our Easter hope resides in this--that Christ's accomplishment at the cross, validated by the Father's raising of His Son from the dead, holds out to us the promise that by so doing He is "bringing many sons to glory" (Hebrews 2:10). The glory of the resurrected Christ will be shared by all His faithful followers. God has promised us this by the "Amen" of His Son's resurrection. What a wonderful hope we have!

Children's Chat

The Children's Ministry here at West Side is getting ready for the biggest event of 2011, that is Vacation Bible School. This years VBS is called Good News Clue and is based on the classic Clue board game. This years VBS is going to be July 11-15th from 9am-1230pm. Below you will find some of the positions that I am still looking for. Any questions feel free to see me or call me. If you can only commit to one or two of the mornings, talk to me and we have positions that don't hav to be a 5 day commitment. I am asking that all involved for the week of VBS to come to the church 8:30am Saturday July 9 for a breakfast and meeting concerning the week meeting will not last more than 2 hours we have to start decorating the church after the meeting. If you are unable to participate during the day there are still positions before VBS making decorations and decorating the church donating needed items and then the Friday Night carnival will need workers as well.

Needed Positions for VBS: First Aid- Someone to run the First Aid room, needs to be CPR trained and basic first aid helpful. Photographer take pictures during the week of the activities Registration people during Sunday Mornings in June and also during the week of VBS Making decorations Decorating the church July 9 Clean up Friday afternoon Set up for the Carnival Friday Afternoon Assistants for Crafts, Snack and Recreation Friday Night Coordinator Friday Night workers

Another big summer event that is coming up is Church camp. Last month Jim Hudson from Woodland Lakes came and spoke at both services promoting the camp. Woodland Lakes has a great facility and programs for all ages. If interested see me for the dates of the camps and cost. West Side will pay a portion of camp tuition for any child attending if further assistance is needed come speak to me about it.

Dear Friends at West Side,

Thank you for your recent gift towards your campaign commitment of $25,000. Our records show that your contributions to date have been $13,815.99. Because of friends like you, the vision of the new facilities for Mid-India Christian Services, Bethlehem is becoming a reality. I praise the Lord each day that He has provided friends with the resources and they have chose to be stewards toward the success of the "Building For Eternity In India" campaign.

The campaign is going well and we are confident we will reach our goal of $650,000. To date we have received commitments for $630,254. The Pendra project was completed last month, construction is ready to begin in another area and improvements to the electric service at Bethlehem College Campus have been made. We have also made repairs to the men's dorm at the Bible College. These projects are made possible by our friends, like you, who are faithfully fulfilling their commitments.

You can be sure that Mid-India Christian Services, Bethlehem is having a positive impact in the lives of families and that is taking place in part because good friends have decided to take an active role in the ministry.
