[Pages:1]Forms of Government (DBQ Essay) Why do people need a government? The Foundation of Government is to enforce law and provide order to the country. A government might be ruled by one person (Monarchy), by itself (Autocracy) or is controlled by the people (Democracy). Madison said: "If men were angels no government would be necessary". Saying that if all men were good and innocent they would only do good things. But since men are corrupt, laws and governments are needed in order to live right and normally. Due to the Political and Social Factors found in the documents, we can prove the author's premise as a valid statement, however Document A disproves the author's premise.

Now first take a look at the Political Factors found in the documents that support the Premise. According to (A History of Western Society), we can clearly see a strong quote. The author said: "Absolute rulers tried to control competing jurisdictions [powers], institutions, or interest groups in their territories"(Doc B). Meaning that rulers tried to have power and control over their country so they can feel secured and make whatever they want to. To feel protected an absolute ruler is trying to control powers also called jurisdictions, which might go against him. Men have only untamed ideas about how to have power the whole time. The author made a comparison saying:

Why do we need a government? A government is a system that controls the people and holds the power of the country. This system is there to protect people's rights and their liberties. So what would happen if we wouldn't have a government ? Madison said: " If men were angels no government would be necessary". If a government would not exist the whole nation would just stop working. Corrupt men would have the whole power and make the country fall apart. Even if people don't like their current form of government, they should still support it. With the documents we can prove the Madisons premise as valid. Although the government isn't perfect, however it is there to make you feel secured and make an order.
