Information about your video appointment with a
Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde are taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and protect our staff and patients.
To keep you safe our first approach will be a virtual appointment.
This leaflet explains what this means for you.
If you have accepted a video appointment, please DO NOT come to the physiotherapy department as we will be unable to see you.
Why am I being offered a video appointment?
To limit the spread of Covid-19 we are increasing the number of clinic appointments delivered by live video calls. Video calls are offered using the Attend Anywhere ‘Near Me’ platform.
What will happen?
A video appointment is like any other clinic appointment in that we give you a specific time slot to discuss your care. At your appointment time, you will log into a private online waiting area and your physiotherapist will join your video call at your appointment time. You will be able to see and hear each other face-to-face. Your physiotherapist will ask a series of questions, similar to those you are asked when you attend your appointment.
❖ Your video appointment letter or email gives you the appointment time and the name of the physiotherapist who will be assessing you. If this is your first appointment with MSK Physiotherapy they will ask you to confirm 2 personal details to verify your identity.
The physiotherapist will join your video call within 10-15 minutes of your appointment time. If your physiotherapists has not joined you within this time please call the Referral Management Centre (RMC) on 0141 347 8909.
How should I prepare? Please make sure that:-
❖ You may be asked to perform simple movements / actions to assess your problem so wear comfortable clothing and be in an area that you have space to do this
❖ Find a private area where you will not be disturbed
❖ You have access to a reliable internet connection
❖ Your device is suitable for making video calls and has a webcam and speaker.
o Google Chrome or Apple Safari
Minimum operating system requirements for Google Chrome users: Windows 7, Android 5.1 or MacOS 10.11 (or newer)
Minimum operating system requirements for Apple Safari users:
iOS 11.4, MacOS 10.12 or iPadOS 13 (or newer)
What happens if I need an interpreter?
We will arrange for an interpreter to be on the video call with you and your physiotherapist. As part of NHSGGC Policy family members cannot be used as interpreters.
If you have not already indicated this on your referral you can ask a family member or friend to phone the Referral Management Centre (RMC) on 0141 347 8909 at least 3 days before your appointment and tell us what language is needed.
What happens if I miss my appointment?
The physiotherapist will enter the virtual waiting area at the allocated day and time of your appointment and wait for a maximum of 15 minutes. If you do not log on within this time they physiotherapist will attempt to call you within your appointment time in case you are having difficulties accessing the waiting area.
If you fail to attend the physiotherapist will record that you have not attended your appointment and you will be allowed 24 hours to contact the Referral Management Centre (RMC) to re book your appointment. If we do not hear from you within this time you will be discharged from the service.
What happens if I need to reschedule my appointment?
Please call the Referral Management Centre (RMC) as soon as possible on 0141 347 8909 to reschedule your appointment.
Please give at least 48 hours notice where possible. Your appointment may be rescheduled up to 2 times.
The MSK Physiotherapy Service is a health promoting service.
All of the issues listed below can affect your health. If you have concerns about any of these and want to know more, please let your clinician know and we can help you to get the advice and support you need. If there is something else that concerns you please let us know.

Please note there is queue system in place and at peak times you may have to wait to have your call answered.
How to access your private waiting area;
There are 2 ways to enter the waiting area for your appointment.
1. You can enter by clicking on the link
2. You can type the web address into your browser or search engine.
Whichever way you enter the waiting area, the first screen you will see is this.

START CALL.
While you are waiting you will see your own image and this message on your screen. This lets you know you have accessed the waiting area correctly…
