Why do we need laws?
There are many rules and laws in our lives. There are rules in games and sports. There are rules at home, at school, and we even have rules when we play with our friends. The rules which the whole of society must live by are called laws.
1 In your group, write down an example of one of these laws. 2 Explain why you think this law is needed. 3 What happens if this law is broken? 4 Who made this law? 5 What is the punishment for breaking this law?
Your teacher will ask you to share these answers with the rest of the class.
6 Now that you have heard other answers, write down why you think we need laws.
7 Illustrate each of the following captions:
A A law we need.
B Where did this law come from?
C What happens if we don't have this law?
D Who enforces this law?
