For instance, some first or second POV is acceptable in the hook.Contractions (don’t, can’t, etc.,.) are not acceptable (for the most part).Essays should be double-spaced and should use 12 point fontSlang terms are not acceptable (unless you’re quoting or possibly explaining a concept that is related to the topic of language)Directions: The following passages must be converted from first or second person point of view, to third person. If they have contractions, they must be corrected. If they have slang/informal language, replace the term.If the passages are unnecessarily wordy, edit them. EACH one MUST be re-written completely (or typed)…I think that cereal companies shouldn’t use cartoonish images on their boxes. I heard that there are studies that show kids will eat sugary cereal if the packaging has images that appeal to them. (3 issues)2. I think that our school should start a sewing club in the month of April because it would teach students how to operate equipment. (2)3. You should buy brownies from our band club today! There are three reasons why you do this. First of all, a student’s mom and dad made them in their bakery shop, so they’re way fresh! Second, his parents use only top quality ingredients! The third reason that you all should buy them is because it will benefit our band club. (3 issues)4. I think hockey is a sport that should be played in every high school. Kids would love this because it requires a great deal of concentration and thinking. (3 issues) 5. This school needs to have a fashion club because it would build leaders, it would help students hone their math skills, and it would ignite creativity!6.We believe that student uniforms shouldn’t be mandatory at our schools for three reasons. First of all, it costs our parents less cash. Uniforms can cost up to 100 bucks! Second, it helps us students express our individuality. For example, some kids like to wear T-shirts with their favorite bands. Finally, dressing differently is fun! These are the reasons our schools shouldn’t require school uniforms. (3 issues)5. We believe that our school (Somerset) should allow the science teacher, Mr. Miller, to have a pet rat in his class. First of all, it wouldn’t cost the school much money. You can buy a rat for under twenty bucks at a pet store. Second, he could teach his kids in class to take care of the pet. This would mean feeding and cleaning out its cage. The final reason we think he should be allowed to have a pet rat in class is because rats have a bad reputation. Students would learn how to respect and understand rats better. (3 issues)6. I believe that schools should offer college prep courses on Saturday’s and Sunday’s since colleges are requiring a lot more from kids every year. (2 issues)7. The elderly widow was sound asleep. Suddenly, she heard her front door opening. She sat up…and yelled, “Who is it?!” Shaking with fright, she grabbed her phone on the night stand and fumbled trying to call 911. Within seconds, the door of her bedroom starts opening…slowly. A burglar peeks in …”This scenario could’ve been avoided if more people would invest in a home security system.
