1. Singing Time Song ? What does the word "priesthood" mean? Review that the priesthood is the power of God. Show pictures of the priesthood being restored (on page 4 below) and review how angels came to restore this power. Give each kid two paper plates and watch this singing time video for "The Priesthood is Restored" (they'll need to use the paper plates like cymbals as they sing the song). We will decorate these cymbals later (step 4). ? This "What is the Priesthood?" video from Latter Day Kids would also be good to go along with this.

2. Scripture Hop ? Why is the priesthood important? Follow instructions on page 3 below for a scripture hop for D&C 84:22 and explain that the priesthood helps prepare us to live with God again.

3. Priesthood Ordinances ? Look at the pictures on page 5 below. Describe what is happening in each picture and how it might help prepare us to live with Heavenly Father again. How are we blessed by the power of the priesthood? Share a story about being blessed by the priesthood, such as "The Power of a Priesthood Blessing" story from the prophet. Other stories about priesthood from The Friend found here.

4. Paper Plate Cymbal ? Follow directions on pages 6-7 below to make/decorate paper plate cymbals. Talk about each ordinance as they color them. If you don't want to print anything, you could just have the kids draw their own pictures onto plates. ? Share why you're grateful for these ordinances. ? Grab another plate to act as another cymbal and "clash" the cymbals together while listening to/singing "The Priesthood is Restored" again. The ordinances and power that we can have because of the priesthood are something that we should celebrate!

5. Priesthood Line of Authority ? After reading about how Moses received his priesthood authority (D&C 84:6-18), a priesthood holder in your family or a ministering brother could share his experience of being ordained to a priesthood office. If possible, he could share and discuss his priesthood line of authority. Why is it important that we can trace priesthood authority in the Church today back to the authority of Jesus Christ? To request a priesthood line of authority, send an email to lineofauthority@. (from manual) ? The picture of Joseph Smith receiving the priesthood (on page 4 below) could also help with this.

6. Baking Soda and Vinegar Activity ("The Power of Godliness") ? Follow directions on page 8 below. The manual says, "Consider what the Lord wants you to do to receive more of His power into your life." Spend time talking about ways we'll work to feel and receive His power in our lives (reading the scriptures, going to church, being kind to siblings, etc.).

? What does this power actually do for us? Give some fun examples (Does it give us power to fly? To become invisible? To blast our broccoli into a million pieces so we don't have to eat it? etc.). Explain that it gives us power to become more like Christ and power to help us prepare to live with Heavenly Father again. This is the very most important power we could ask for.

? Testify of the power that can be in our lives because of the priesthood and how we've been blessed by it.

7. Angels Round About You ? D&C 84:88 says, "I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up." This is talking about missionary work, but it also applies to other ordinances. When we go to the temple, we've been promised that we will leave armed with God's power and with His angels having charge over us. ? Talk about the angels who restored the priesthood. ? Help them understand that angels are all around us and can help us when we need help. These angels could include family members who have passed on. Even if we don't see them, they love us and want to help us, just like Jesus loves us and wants to help us. ? Make a treat that has something around something else (edible playdough wrapped around M&M's, cookie dough around a Hershey's Kiss, etc.), while talking about angels being round about us. If you want a REALLY good recipe, look at page 10 below. We have these Kiss Cookies at family gatherings all of the time, and they are SO good!

More Great Free Ideas at Memory Game with Priesthood Ordinances (from The Friend) "Blessings of the Priesthood" 3-minute video from church website What does the priesthood have to do with girls? From this month's Friend magazine I recently found out about and started using the Come Follow Me App. It's also a great way to get a little extra (and super simple) study in for yourself each day. Scripture Hop

(D&C 84:22)

Cut apart the following strips and spread them out far enough in a room so that the kids will need to hop from one strip to another. Make sure to keep them in the correct order. Have them stand by the first one and help them say the top line out loud. Explain what it means. Then have them jump to the next one and do the same thing until they've jumped on each of them, said them out loud, and discussed them one at a time. Then have them start back at the beginning and practice saying the phrases from this verse in order while hopping from strip to strip again. Try going a little faster each time. Repeat as many times as wanted/needed. These can also be used as flash cards, taped onto the wall to practice throughout the week, etc.

For without

The Priesthood

No man can see

The face of God,

Even the Father,

And live.

Note: The whole verse says, "For without this no man can see the face of God, even the Father, and live."

Paper Plate Cymbal: Tape picture of Heavenly Father in the middle of a plate. Tape ordinances and blessings of the priesthood to outer rim of the plate. Talk about how each helps connect us to God and His power. Tape a picture of yourself onto the outer rim as well. Share why you're grateful for these ordinances. Grab another plate to act as another cymbal and "clash" the cymbals together while singing "The Priesthood is Restored."

Draw a picture of yourself on this circle. Drawing of Heavenly Father made by Crystal from

Tape onto outer rim of plate. You could also hang these on a yarn/string to make a mobile.

Baking Soda and Vinegar Activity

("The Power of Godliness")

? Ask each person to review what one priesthood ordinance is. Let them put in a small teaspoonful of baking soda while reviewing that ordinance.

? After each person has shared an ordinance and put baking soda into the cup, read D&C 84:20-21.

? These verses say that the "power of godliness" can be made manifest (be shown to us) through these ordinances.

? A couple of things need to happen in order for this "POWER" to happen and to be seen/felt in our lives.

? First, those ordinances need to be done through priesthood authority (explain this in as much depth as necessary).

? Second, we need to live righteously. In Gospel Topics, it says, "There is a difference between the authority of the priesthood and the power of the priesthood. Priesthood authority comes from ordination. Power comes from personal righteousness."

? Spend time talking about ways we'll work to feel and receive His power in our lives (reading the scriptures, going to church, being kind to siblings, etc.).

? Then add vinegar into the cup. Watch carefully to see the power it gives to the baking soda!
