Expectations: For the average head of extensions using 4 to 6 packs of hair it should take about one hour to uninstall the extensions from the client's head and remove the adhesive from the extensions. You are now ready to clarify and then apply replacement tape to the wefts and re-install them onto the client. This part should take the usual 45 minutes to one hour.

1. Apply Ultra Bond remover generously to one or two sections at a time. (Maximum 3-4 sections at a time is recommended. If you do more than that the adhesive can become gummy and difficult to remove)

2. Remove the extensions from the hair by peeling them apart like a banana, from the top down. Also, think of it like removing a label from a jar, you need to make sure the tape comes off with the weft, and doesn't stay in the hair.

3. Then using your fingernail, remove the old piece of tape from the back of the extension weft. If you are doing two sections at a time, the tape should come off in one piece.

4. Dip your fingers in a color bowl with clarifying shampoo in it and rub the tape area and about 1 inch down the hair extension.

5. Rinse under a faucet and pin to a mannequin preferably, to remember where on the head you took it from.

6. Once you have removed all of the extensions you will often find that there is residual adhesive left in the client's hair. You can only remove this with Ultra Bond Remover! Clarifying shampoo will not achieve that.

7. Apply Ultra Bond Remover to one section of sticky hair at a time and use your comb to gently comb the residue off the hair.

8. Repeat this on each section one at a time until there is no sticky residue left in the client's hair.

9. Now use clarifying shampoo on the client and work it into the roots area of the hair diligently. Some stylists choose to follow step j with every client and use baking soda mixed in with the clarifying shampoo.

10. If the clarifying shampoo did not get everything off the hair then shampoo them a second time with a mixture of clarifying shampoo and baking soda and have the client sit up while you work that into the hair for up to 5 minutes.

11. The mixture for shampoo to baking soda would be something along the lines of 1 Tbsp. of baking soda to a half dollar size of shampoo.

12. After that is rinsed give them a quick shampoo with a sulfate free shampoo and then a light conditioner for a couple of minutes.

13. Now blow dry in preparation for reinstalling the Tape In extensions.
