COUGARS OPEN CONFERENCE PLAY The Washington State University baseball team (10-10, 0-3 Pacific-10) hosts nationallyranked Stanford in a three-game Pac-10 Conference series at Bailey-Brayton Field, April 1-3...game times are 5:30 p.m., Friday, 2 p.m., Saturday and noon, Sunday...first conference games of the season for the Cardinal (11-6) which is ranked 11th (Baseball America), 18th (Collegiate Baseball), 19th (NCBWA) and 21st (USA Today/ESPN)...third-straight weekend Washington State will play a weekend series against a nationally-ranked opponent...all three games will have live stats and a webcast on ...Steve Grubbs will provide the play-by-play online and on the radio...Friday and Sunday will be on Hit Radio 104.3 FM with Saturday's broadcast airing on NewsTalk 1150 AM/105.3 FM.

COUGAR VICTORIES Washington State entered 2011 with 2,514 baseball wins to rank 10th all-time on the NCAA Division I in total victories...Cougars rank behind Fordham (4,043), Texas (3,197), USC (2,673), Michigan (2,664), Stanford (2,620), Arizona State (2,593), Arizona (2,534), Clemson (2,523) and Florida State (2,522)...Washington State is 28th all-time in winning percentage at 62.1...Arizona State (67.4), Arizona (65.2) and USC (64.7) are the only current Pacific-10 Conference schools with a higher winning percentage than WSU.

BUILDING A PROGRAM Prior to 2009, Washington State's last NCAA postseason appearance in baseball was 1990...Cougars have earned an at-large bid in each of the last two seasons...first back-toback NCAA postseason bids since 1987-88...WSU has 34 Pacific-10 Conference victories during that time, its most in a two-year span since 1989-90 (35)...Cougars have been prolific at protecting their home field with a 48-12 mark since the start of the 2009 season... the 80.0 winning percentage is the second highest in the Pac-10 behind Arizona State... under Donnie Marbut, Washington State has a winning record in each of the last five seasons, including four years with at least 30 wins...from 1995-2004, the 10 seasons between legendary Cougar Head Coach Charles "Bobo" Brayton and Marbut's arrival, Washington State had two winning seasons and failed to win 30 games in any campaign...Marbut is the only Cougar mentor besides Brayton to average at least 30 wins during his WSU career.

OUCH Washington State leads the Pacific-10 Conference in hit by pitches with 37.

HITTER NOTES #35 Taylor Ard (1B) - Leads team with 19 RBI...tied with Matt Argyropoulos and Derek Jones for team lead with three home runs (tied for fourth in Pac-10)...four RBI vs. Oklahoma State (March 4) and against Gonzaga (March 29)...batted .440 (11-for-25) with three multi-hit games during seven-game hitting streak (March 6-17).

#23 Matt Argyropoulos (3B) - Recorded 11 muti-hit games, including four-straight to open the season...leads team with .373 batting average which is fifth in the Pac-10...tied for the team lead with Taylor Ard and Derek Jones in home runs with three (tied for fourth in Pac-10)...ranks second in the conference with .582 slugging percentage, sixth with .456 on-base percentage and tied for ninth with five hit by pitches.

#2 Cody Bartlett (2B/SS) - Batted .417 (10-for-24) during eight-game hitting streak (March 5-18)...batting .583 (7-for-12) over last three games.

#33 Nate Blackham (OF) - Appeared in 14 games off the bench...hits in first-two collegiate at bats.

#11 Patrick Claussen (OF) - Batted .667 (6-for-9) with double and six RBI in two games (first starts of the season) against Utah Valley (March 12-13).

#39 Paul Clingan (C) - Eight games off the bench...hit first-collegiate home run in victory over Utah Valley (March 13).

#15 Brett Jacobs (OF) - Started 19 of 20 games...three, three-hit games...seven-game hitting streak (Feb. 26-March 12)...tied for third in the Pac-10 with seven hit by pitches... first-career home run came leading off game (March 7) against Dallas Baptist...four RBI against Gonzaga (March 29).
